About Program

Adventures in Preservation has partnered with the Fairfield Foundation in Gloucester, Virginia since 2011, providing AiP's most popular project. Work continues at the Fairfield Plantation where cutting edge drone technology is allowing a 3D model to be built layer by layer.

Volunteers learn archaeological excavation techniques as well as historic masonry preservation practices. Join us as we dig into the heritage-rich soil of Virginia's Middle Peninsula and explore histories of plantation owners and the enslaved laborers. You never know what you'll discover, but you can be sure to learn something new!
