About Program

ACIPP internships in international affairs and diplomacy are hosted by the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD). LECAID, established in 1989, is an International Relations and Diplomacy institute with the mandate to train the staff for Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other allied institutions. LECIAD is also a designated Training Institution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). LECAID is interested in interns who have a specific research topic (or research area) in mind, relevant to their current topics (visit this website to learn more about current research at LECAID). The intern will conduct independent research on the chosen topic, under the supervision of a LECAID fellow. Preferably undergraduate, master's or PhD students in the fields of international relations or peace and security/conflict resolution studies.

Program Highlights

  • Wide range of internships in many fields! Our internships are offered across three West African nations (Liberia, Ghana, and Sierra Leone), and encompass many different fields and disciplines.
  • All-inclusive program with low costs: ACIPP aids you in the organization your internship abroad in all facets--including housing, food, and orientation.Beyond this, our costs are on average 70% cheaper than larger organizations offering similar service.
  • Focus on meaningful contributions to the organization: ACIPP aims to provide more than just a small experience--we encourage lasting contribution and partnership. Thus, we typically encourage a minimum of 6-8 weeks dedicated to your internship.
  • Increasing cultural knowledge and sensitivity :Increasing globalization requires skills in cultural sensitivity and awareness. While it is fairly easy to intern in one's home country, the internships we provide abroad expose our interns to new cultures.
  • We are financially transparent: ACIPP values our commitment to transparency in organisation. Our financial statements from 2012 and 2013 are available on our website.
