A great experience working abroad

I had a lovely time working with MyEnglishSister over my 10 months in Lyon. Katy and Charlotte are the perfect balance of professional and kind and have been nothing but supportive through my time with the company.

Resources are provided, Katy gives advice on how to best teach the children, and as I am TEFL qualified there was the option to teach adults online too! It has been an extremely rewarding process.

I know that the Turing scheme now helps recent grads to get abroad, and so would recommend taking advantage of this!

Pros
  • Supportive team
  • Immersive experience
Cons
  • Limited to after-school hours

Really cool experience living in Lyon and working with French children

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do after graduating from Queen's University (Belfast) but knew I wanted to move to France and improve my French! Working with MES was amazing because the team is so kind and helpful. They found me the exact number of hours that I wanted to work (15 per week) and matched me up with such nice families, and if I ever needed help or had a question there was always someone available. My salary was around €700 per month and I only worked afternoons (4:45 to 6:45pm) and all day Wednesday. I got a second job in a cafe some mornings which meant I was really comfortable financially. Also there were no sessions during the kids school holidays which meant I had lots of time to travel and visit other places in France. I spent 6 months but wish I could have stayed longer! Thank you again MES!

Pros
  • The work was fun
  • The company is really nice and helpful
  • The paid was good and you get training
Cons
  • Lyon is quite expensive so you either need savings or a second part-time job

HR and Recruitment Internship review

The HR and Recruitment Internship with My English Sister was a wonderful experience. I had a great welcome from the team. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I gained so much experience. From interviewing potential candidates to creating job vacancies on career websites. I learnt a huge amount of information that will most definitely aid me in my future career, both professionally and personally. I had a great time working with everyone on the team, everyone got along so well. I enjoyed both the office work and working with the children. Being with the kids everyday and being a part of their growth was great. Helping them improve their English and seeing their progress was truly heart warming.

Pros
  • Flexible hours
  • Very helpful team
  • Gain a lot of experience

Interning with MES

I have just completed a Digital Marketing Internship here at MES and have learnt a lot! I really recommend this internship if you are interested in gaining transferable working skills for your future. The MES team are very supportive, friendly and quick to help if you have any questions, this enables interns to learn a lot rapidly and for their work to notably improve. In terms of the location of the internship, Lyon is the perfect student city and I would recommend it to any students/ young workers!

A once in a lifetime experience with MES

I will never be able to thank MES enough for what I have learned, professionally and personally during this experience. I am so delighted that they are in a position to take on interns and that I can pass on my experience and knowledge to them whilst we continue to work together to grow this wonderful little company right in the heart of Lyon, which is by far (in my very biased opinion), the best city in France! This opportunity is the most ideal way to begin a life in France and learn essential transferrable skills which you will bring into any future job role. If you love working with children, and are intrigued by business and marketing in France, this internship programme is fantastic.

Pros
  • Professional experience
  • Living in Lyon
  • Improved French
