1 month Internship at Andeco Inc

Dear future participants! I am an intern who has just finished my 1 month Placement at Andeco Inc. in Osaka, Japan. In short, this programme is not just an internship experience, this is a complex, a mixture of professional and personal growth package. However, there is no pressure or strict line on how you could develop your skills or improve your potential.

My programme team has travelled to Osaka, Nara, Kyoto and Kobe in just one month! We had amazing cultural and business events, like tea ceremony wearing Kimono, Innovation Hub networking session, YMCA International School volunteering, meeting industry professional from RGF Recruitment of Japan, Welcoming Banquet and Leaving Ceremony at Grand Front Osaka, visiting Shin Sekai, Namba, Expo City, Universal Studios Japan, and many museum, shrines and greeting Deers! Also, my Supervisor took us to different kind of business trips, such as we went to Mie prefecture to attend a factory and prepare a pop-up store for the local governmental auditing.

Moreover: After completing your professionals obligations, you can also plan your own trip as well. I have been fortunate to travel to Hyogo prefecture, which has a famous Kinosaki onsen, Hiroshima prefecture, where I visited Peace Memorial Museum, Miyajima one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and of course Tokyo!!!

The programme managers and coordinators are the first contact that they will guide you and help you to make the best experience you could accomplish.

I am more than 100% recommend you to be part of this amazing programme and get unforgettable memory. This is such a rare opportunity and alive experience to understand and learn about other country's culture and enjoy the beautiful nature by seeing it closer in reality!

I wish you all the luck and great success.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be well prepared, make research about the history and culture. Lister well to the programme managers and coordinators. Most importantly cherish every second of your experience there!

Best experience ever!!!

My internship in CRCC was really great! I get to work as an intern in an international commercial law firm. For my 2 months internship, I was able to develop and work on my legal research skills, time management, legal drafting and also, cultural agility. The internship has no doubt helped me develop my professional skills and also my knowledge and understanding of a totally different culture.

Before I arrived in HCMC i was really nervous that I would not have fun and that I will be left out since I did not know anyone prior to the internship. But I was wrong since all the people were really helpful, and CRCC Asia did not fail to guide us, and help us with whatever concerns we had. I wouldn't say the internship was smooth, but the challenges definitely helped me grow as an individual.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Snails! My colleague invited me to have dinner with her and her family. They were really nice and took me out to eat in a fancy Vietnamese restaurant serving variety of food such as hotpot, spring rolls.... Here I also got to try snails which was surprisingly good! But remember to take out the lower part as that had a weird taste.

Amazing opportunity!

Interning in Tokyo has been an incredible experience. Spending my summer here, has definitely been a great decision. I have met some amazing like-minded people and made unforgettable friendships whilst on this adventure.
The CRCC staff were quite helpful and answered any questions or issues I had, which made settling in Tokyo much easier.
Experiencing and learning about a new culture, food and work environment has been valuable yet challenging but has provided me with knowledge and confidence for the next stepping stone of my career. I truly recommend and encourage anyone to take part in interning abroad and away from home if they are looking for an adventure, challenge and improve their career paths, it is definitely worth it for the long run.

What would you improve about this program?
Perhaps the pricing range of the program, as it is quite expensive!

Great Times in Tokyo

I really enjoyed my summer interning in Tokyo thanks to CRCC Asia. I was very nervous going into the program as I wasn't too sure about the company that I was placed with originally but it ended up being the perfect place for me. The variety of projects that I did as well as the flexibility in the scheduling of my work day made it easier for me to handle as a person with disabilities so im definitely grateful for CRCC Asia's help with the placement as I would not have found the opportunity myself. In terms of the money I spent on the program I definitely think it was worth it in the long run as the accommodations were really nice (and new!), the activities were fun (especially DisneySea) and the bus to the housing from the airport was super helpful. I do wish there had been other trips offered with the program such as a planned visit to an area outside of Tokyo but i know with the number of interns that would have been hard. Overall great program, definitely recommend for those trying to work in Tokyo!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Take advantage of everything you can as the summer goes by fast!

Brilliant time interning in Beijing

I cannot overstate how much I recommend applying for this internship – I loved every second of mine! I worked for an educational NGO in Beijing, and fulfilled two of my greatest career ambitions: working abroad and working within the charity sector. Getting this experience was invaluable to me, and I hope to continue working abroad in this sector, and hopefully even in Beijing again!

Exploring the endless things Beijing has on offer has also been incredible. Every evening and weekend was filled with visiting a new site, restaurant, museum or bar. Being able to immerse myself in a new culture like this, as someone working in the city, rather than as a quickly visiting tourist, is a once-in-a-life-time-opportunity that I feel so lucky to have experienced.

What would you improve about this program?
More optional cultural activities could be provided.

Law in Beijing

I had such a fun time in Beijing, if you are into culture then this is definitely the city for you. Everything you get to see comes at a really reasonable cost and theres student discounts on most of the attractions.
My internship for the most part was very nice, I worked in a lovely firm that were really flexible with days off. I did not see much of my supervisors and this was not one of the perks however if we emailed them they were very quick to reply to us.
The projects we were given were fun and our clients are some of the largest corporations in China and the United States which was really cool.
When reviewing CRCC, I think the pre departure although when the information was received was useful, we only received our pre departure pack 3 days before we flew which was not ideal. The team in Beijing are led by a very competent able woman however the team underneath her are not always as organised. I feel as though some of the activities could be put at a better time, and some of the hidden costs were not ideal.
I would recommend the programme to anyone I had a fabulous time however I did not know I would be paying for my own sim and having to pay big electric and water bills when I was told on my scholarship would cover my accommodation. I also think the community and cultural events could be better organised I would have liked to have been told I had to make my own way there and back for some of them.
would recommend though had a great summer.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
make a list of everything you do at work that way you know the skills you gained from it, be as cultural as possible, make as many friends as you can

Great experience but really expensive

I had a great time with my host company doing branding. My boss was very personable and did the most he could to help me learn and grow. However, even with a scholarship to supplement a small portion of the program fee, I feel as if paying so much for the program on top of general living and travel expenses was not worth it. The internship was unpaid, and to claim course credit for UT Advertising, you would need to pay an additional 2K, which I felt was not worth it. If you have a ton of money to spare, I would say go for it though!

The program coordinators were very caring and always available in times of need, and the cultural events hosted by CRCC were fun. By staying for 2 months, I felt as if it was just enough time to travel around Japan, and not too long to where you want to go back home.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I did not plan to hike Mount Fuji, but after making friends in the program, we decided to go together. I was an unforgettable experience, especially since I never hike.

Shanghai, the city that never sleeps.

To be honest, as I am fluent in Mandarin I have not found living in China as challenging as some others perhaps. I really enjoyed my internship, as it was a very relaxed environment and I got along very well with my colleagues. Overall it was a very positive experience for me. I am very surprised and amazed by how well the cashless payment system and everyday convenience in China has developed. In general it has been extremely convenient to live there (given you have a bank account), I did not have to carry around any cash, I only needed my phone. If my phone was running out of battery I could simply borrow a charger from a box with multiple chargers for loan 24/7, same goes for umbrellas, items people usually tend to forget. You can rent bikes everywhere scanning a QR-code on the bike to access them, car hiring is cashless as well, even the smallest business has QR-payment, even very senior people know how to use modern technology. In my opinion, China might not be the country with the most original ideas, but what they are really good at is copying ideas from others and making bigger and better.
It was a truly amazing experience!!

What would you improve about this program?
Just the location of the accommodation, something that is in PuXi instead of Pudong

Not worth what I paid

Beijing was very cool and I was placed in a great company with a heavy workload. The apartments were very nice and in a good part of the city, but a little far from the closest subway. CRCC was not very organized and had embarrassing response time to their WeChat contact, and after the first week they basically left us alone. They did not really provide anything for us except for our internship placement, the first introduction week of activities, and a couple of cultural activities along the way that were not very exciting and very early in the morning. Their contact with the internees was very poor and if there was an emergency I would be worried about being able to reach them. CRCC made us take mandatory Mandarin classes which originally sounded fun, but the classrooms were a 45 minute commute from the apartments which is tough after a long day at work. Also the classes only had one level (beginner), so for someone who knows a decent amount of Chinese it was very painful to sit through them for an hour and a half twice a week. Overall, Beijing and my internship was cool but I do not think I would recommend CRCC at the price I paid for it.

What would you improve about this program?
CRCC needs to improve the format of their program. For what I paid, I expected to have lots of tours, trips, and cultural events. Instead they set us up one tour the first week, two boring/useless business seminars, 3 cultural events that were very early in the morning and not very fun (also they would take you to these places, but then leave you and expect you to be able to get home by yourself), Mandarin classes that were long and for beginners, and a couple dinners that you had to pay out of pocket for. Overall I would change how CRCC worded the program on their website and their price. I paid way to much for what I got and their website had a lot of fluffing on it to make the program sound better.

Empowering

My experience on the CRCC Asia china internship was incredible! I learnt so much both professionally and personally. I enjoyed being out of my comfort zone: I was in a completely foreign country, not being able to speak the language or have experience in the professional environment and yet I was able to adapt really well and enjoy my time there. It's a very rewarding feeling.

The staff were also really accommodating. We had organised events which allowed us to really make the most of our time, for example learning wushu, getting weekly Mandarin lessons and attending a Chinese business seminar.

I'd definitely recommend this programme to those who wish not only to build their CV but to challenge themselves personally. It was my first but definitely not my last trip to China!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
I accidentally ate some snake in a restaurant in China. I couldn't believe it when a local person told me this afterwards.. although I have to say it wasn't the worst thing I've eaten!
