The best summer at Roehampton!!

I absolutely loved doing summer school at Roehampton University. The summer program is an amazing alternative to studying abroad all semester and I'm glad that I chose it. The classes are designed for exchange students and to teach you about the culture and history of London while also giving you the time to explore the city on your own and make friends with the other study abroad students. The other students and I truly felt like a family who had known each other for years after just a few days of exploring the city together. The University of Roehampton reminds me so much of King's because of its smaller size and tight knit community that was incredibly welcoming. I think every student should consider studying abroad, and the Summer at Roehampton Program is the perfect option for students who cannot go away for months at a time.

Amazing 3 weeks!

The University of Roehampton folks were super welcoming and friendly! The events they had planned for us were fun, inviting, and really interactive. Never once did I feel like I was alone here. From the minute I stepped off the plane to the minute I returned home, Roehampton was with me every step of the way. My tutor was funny and made learning about art really fun and interesting. Through the class course, I was able to see some really amazing museums. I HIGHLY recommend attending the University of Roehampton for your summer!

Pros
  • Super friendly people
  • Getting lost and finding places you couldn't even imagine
  • The gelato in here is very delicious
Cons
  • Public transportation really racks up
  • Uber's here are very expensive

Beautiful Campus ,Nice People

The campus is really beautiful with lakes, lawn and animals. The study environment is really comfortable. The staffs and professors are super nice too. Transportation is good . Very convenient to get to the centre london! I hope I can stay here for longer time.

What would you improve about this program?
3 weeks is not enough. Make it longer than 3 weeks will be really good.

Best Summer Ever!

I had such a wonderful and memorable experience at Roehampton University! I made life long friendships and had an amazing time exploring London! I took the "Introduction to the London Stage" class, and I thoroughly enjoyed the theatre in London. All of the shows we went to see for class were interesting and expanded my knowledge of theatre. We saw 10 different shows as a class in the 3 weeks I was there.
There were many fun places to hang out with people I met, and the campus is just a short ride on the tube away from central London. There are plenty of places to shop there, plus there's cool markets to check out where I bought some really awesome souvenirs.
The Roehampton University campus is beautiful! I would highly recommend this program for your summer study abroad trip! 10/10

What would you improve about this program?
The only thing I would like to change about this program is to make it longer than 3 weeks. It can go by too fast.

Summer School

Studying at Roehampton University was an absolute pleasure! The campus is beautiful with gorgeous lakes and lush green parks to enjoy time with friends. The staff and advisors were super friendly and very helpful throughout my time studying here. The rooms are decent but do get very warm in the summer. Overall, studying at Roehampton was great fun and I've made friends from around the world that will stay with me for a lifetime!

review of Roehampton international summer school

I really enjoy these three weeks at Roehampton University! On the arrival day, my flight arrived in London at 9:00 pm, and I have already passed the coach pick-up time. I told the Roehampton abroad team and asked them some information about how to get to the campus. Because it's my first time to Europe and my classmates all took different flights from mine, I'm alone. Luckily, Nat arranged a uber for me and I am really appreciated for that! He's very nice and patient! During these three weeks, he solved lots of problems for me! Thank you again for all the support on the campus! It's the first time that EdUHK sends students here, and I will recommend Roehampton to my friends in Hong Kong! Suggestions are that the doors in accommodation are too thin, sometimes I cannot sleep well~

Enjoyable experence

I was expecting to be quite stressed as I don't work well when it comes to traveling. However, it only took me a few days to settle in and get a good sense of the surroundings. I had a great time thanks in large part to the staff who were very helpful and supportive. In my class, I explored the literature of London in terms of Magic, Mystery, and Murder. My professor was excellent and made the subject very engaging and interesting. The class had a reasonable workload and offered several excursions to explore London. The social programs were great and well-organized and did a lot to let me explore a number of locations around London and get to know the other members of the program. The housing was nice and the provided kitchen supplies were extremely useful.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
Go out more and try more of the restaurants around the area.

My Summer at Roehampton

I had so much fun this summer at Roehampton! The city is an hour tube away from the campus which was really good for the most part because you could get away from the bustle of the city. There was a small shopping area about ten minutes away from campus with a movie theater and several restaurants. The classes were fun and easy going. You can tell they are structured with the knowledge you will be traveling and doing other things besides class. I wasn’t that big a fan of my accommodations due to size and having to share a bathroom, but I have really good and private accommodations at home to compare them to. If I were to come back they wouldn’t factor into my decision because I didn’t stay inside very much. University of Roehampton was a great experience.

What would you improve about this program?
The only thing I would want to improve about the program is the way the directions for assignments is explained. There wasn’t very much explanation at first about how to complete assignments until our professor heard us talking and realized we had completely misunderstood the directions. Making them more internationally friendly would be a good idea. If you’re traveling to study make sure you ask your professor to break down exactly what they want from the assignment because the rules are different in London vs USA but they sound the same.
