Impact

Sustainability

At INTRO our commitment to a sustainable future is a key principle, and the driving force behind our Small Change initiative, which we launched in 2017.

As part of our goal to make a real positive impact to the environment, we partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects in 2019 to plant 10 trees for every booking we received. And as a result we’ve planted tens of thousands of trees, aided reforestation, rehabilitated wildlife and reduced poverty in multiple local communities.

However we wanted to go even further and achieve true sustainability, so in late 2023 we began a new partnership with Path Net Zero to accurately measure our tours emissions, and Veritree to plant trees to offset those emissions.

We are now very proud to say that every INTRO tour is 100% carbon neutral.

Cambodia 9 day tour

Absolutely beautiful country! Massive thanks to our group leader Theresa who took us to some really cool spots along the way - I would recommend Intro for anyone wanting to do solo travelling, the tour is compact and feels like a holiday as you’re able to relax and not worry about planning

With such an upsetting history you could forgive Cambodian people for having a pessimistic outlook on life but in general they are so friendly, welcoming and positive

Glad I was able to tick off some bucket list activities with the help of Intro and make some lasting connections with fellow travellers

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Grasshoppers, beetles and durian fruit (which tastes better than it smells!)
Pros
  • Great tour leader and group
  • Friendly and welcoming locals
  • Snorkelling on Koh Rong Sanloem
Cons
  • It didn’t last longer

Beautiful Vietnam

I have just finished this tour with Steph as the leader. Steph was brilliant and made everything stress free, she is accommodating, flexible and genuinely lovely with a permanent smile. Steph went over and above as a tour leader and would provide fantastic recommendations for food, cafes, places to visit and what to plan in to free time.

The local guides were great; they were fun, knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. The tour activities were excellent and well selected and I can confidently say I enjoyed every one of them. It was a perfect combination of adventure (hiking, biking, kayaking) and relaxation (a beach day and pool afternoons). The restaurants we went to for the planned dinner nights had delicious food and easily accommodated dietary requirements.

The accommodation was second to none. Clean rooms, comfy beds, well equipped rooms with air con and most places had a pool to cool off in. The only minus point I would say was that the rooms on the cruising boat at Ha Long Bay weren’t up to scratch. However, I would argue that the incredible quality of the food on the boat did make up for this factor. The transport between locations was comfortable and some of the vans even had massage chairs.

This tour was absolutely fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone. You will see the beauty of Vietnam and fall in love with it as I have.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Train Street in Hanoi
Pros
  • Group leader

Best ever trip in Vietnam

I had a great 12 day experience in Vietnam with Intro! My only regret is not doing the full 15 day. Steph our leader made everything so hassle free and amazing and took care of my dietary requirements which was such a relief for me, I didn’t have to worry about anything at all. Each place was awesome in its own way and I’ve made so many memories and new friends. There was no pressure to take part in the activities but they were all really great. The food everywhere exceeded my expectations!!
The overnight train was a bit iffy for me, but still an experience non the less! Ready to book my next tour!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would do the 15 days instead of the 12 days! I didn’t enjoy having to say goodbye!!
Pros
  • Good for solo travellers
  • Amazing food
  • Activities for everyone’s different interests
Cons
  • No laundry really in the first 8 days! Didn’t really prepare for that.

What is your favorite travel memory?

It’s very hard to name one favourite travel memory, as no trip is ever the same, and even if you return to the country you’ve been before, you’ll always have a new favourite memory!

But if I have to name one, it’s going to be the volcano sunrise hike in Bali! Watching the sun come up on the horizon from the top of an active volcano is such a once in a lifetime experience!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I’ve realised that travelling with a group is the best way to travel!

Whenever I used to go travelling, I would go all by myself and try to meet new people along the way. But that isn’t always easy if you only have a week or two to spend in a country.

But if you come with a group of like minded people from day one until the end, it changes the whole experience completely!

IT’S DOUBLE THE FUN IF YOU CAN SHARE IT WITH SOMEONE!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

“Adrian! We’re planning a reunion with the whole group next month! You need to come!”

Hearing that people who were strangers to each other before coming on a tour, are now becoming best friends and planning reunions and next trips together, is just the best thing you can possibly hear from someone.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would definitely choose the 13-day Japan Adventure!

Japan is just this this country that blends in ultramodern cities, very rich history and culture with some of the most beautiful nature as well!

From the Bullet train ride, to a Samurai experience, Mount Fuji, Sushi making class and so much more!
This tour has all you need when you come to Japan!

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

#SmallChange

It’s our initiative towards responsible travel. We not only encourage people to reduce single-use plastics, participate in beach cleanups, but also support local communities and engage in cultural exchange.

It’s great to see how people start using reusable water bottles, buy locally made products, or teach local people few English words.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

To be a successful company, you have to be passionate about what you do and make sure you keep your employees happy.

I believe that if you’ll keep these things in order, your employees are going to go that extra mile for you and your customers, no matter what problems you’ll face, you’ll always get through it.
