Amazing Time!

I absolutely loved my time abroad. I would do it over and over again if I could. Our program leaders were amazing and always had a local excursion for us to do. The city was amazing, the classes were good, the professors were great, and again(!) the program leaders were so so amazing. The longer weekend trips were definitely worth it and the spring break was the perfect amount of time. The only downside is that we don't have a ton of immersion or interactions with other students. The school isn't physically part of another university so we don't have the opportunity to interact with non-USAC students automatically. There are opportunities to connect with the community and other students if you seek them out yourself, but it's not built into the program. Otherwise, I have zero complaints! I love the housing (it's in great parts of the city and super accessible and good), everyone is very helpful and welcoming, and it's a great experience.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would spend more time in the city! Prague is such a central, affordable place to travel from, so I spent my weekends traveling elsewhere with my friends. I loved the trips we took and made great memories, but Prague just so cool. There's so much to do in Prague and the Czech Republic, I wish I would have stayed more weekends to experience it!
Pros
  • Housing
  • Affordability
  • Safety
Cons
  • Community connections

Prague Fall 2025

Prague is such a wonderful and safe place to go abroad. The city has so much charm and character while also feeling modern. The social scenes and night life is super fun if you're into that. Tons of stuff to do on a day-to-day basis. One thing that surprised me about Prague was how much nature is integrated into the city; the parks are amazing! Going through USAC made the entire process feel super stress free and I felt supported through the entire process. USAC is a much cheaper compared to other programs for the same quality! Overall, I definitely recommend considering Prague for study abroad.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Duck, sourcrout, and bread dumplings (a classic meal)
Pros
  • Beautiful city
  • Great public transportation
  • Good nightlife
Cons
  • Dirty

An experience everyone should have!

I studied abroad in Prague for the second summer session during 2025, and it was an unforgettable experience. Prague is an absolutely gorgeous city and USAC gave me the chance to live in it for a period of time. The class I took (Architecture) took us to so many museums, churches, castles, and art galleries, most of which I probably wouldn’t have known about if not for the class. The professor, Milan, was so kind and knowledgeable, and so was every staff there (like Dasa and Jan.) If you decide to study in gorgeous Prague, you MUST do the Budapest/Vienna tour. It was a truly amazing trip and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I did this program again, I would go on more adventures by myself. Prague is a very safe city and although I went on some excursions without the friends I made, I wish I did more solo exploring around the city and tried more food by myself. I’m grateful for all the friends I made on the program but sometimes it’s easier to do what you want if you just went on your own.
Pros
  • Amazing public transportation
  • Gorgeous historical city
  • Very affordable
Cons
  • Walking can get tiring (cobblestone roads)
  • Not the best food I’ve ever had

The perfect group in the right city

I started my program in September 2024, and it lasted three and a half months. It has truly been one of the best experiences of my life. The city is perfect for this kind of experience, with the right balance between an international atmosphere and a local context. In addition, the staff and the program were very well organized, and the staff was extremely kind and supportive. Dasa, Jan, and all the professors were always available and helpful. The program also regularly organized great day trips and visits to cities and locations in Prague, across the Czech Republic, and even abroad.

What was your funniest moment?
Not one in particular, there were many crazy nights and fun activities.
Pros
  • great staff
  • funny activities
  • balance beetween local and international

Czech Republic Review

My month in Prague was amazing and probably the best time of my life. I got to see so much cool stuff on my own and was provided so many unique experiences with USAC, like visiting a medieval mine, a huge fort, countless medieval churches, museums, and boat tour! I got to meet several awesome people and got to celebrate my 21st birthday in a Irish karaoke bar. I got to see museums of history I have always wanted to see (I even got to go into not one but two cold war bunkers!). Overall so much fun and has defiantly made me want to move there!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would go to even more places and go on even more adventures. I was constantly doing things but I didn't feel like I completed or saw all the things I wanted to do. I would probably spend another month there just to see everything!
Pros
  • The food was amazing
  • The musuems where incredible
  • The nightlife was one of a kind
Cons
  • The flight there
  • The flight back
  • the heat becasue europe does not belive in air conditoning

The best summer!

Hello there! I did a summer session abroad in Prague, Czech Republic and it was the best 5 weeks of my life. From the courses offered, to the location of my apartment, to the friendliness of the staff, everything was amazing. I loved the two classes that I took. I took Czech cinema & film and Art & Architecture. There was never a boring day in Prague. There is endless things to do and the town is enriched with so much history. If I could change one thing I would have done both summer sessions (9 weeks) instead of just the one session I did. Prague is such an underrated place and you will fall in love with it just how my friends and I did! In my film class we got to go to local Czech cinemas and theaters and watch films directed by Czech directors. Every day in my art & architecture class was a field trip. We got to visit churches, castles, museums, and important town centers each day of class.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My best advice is to try to do something new everyday. Whether it’s seeing a new park or building or even trying a new local food. Everyday after class I would go to a new area in Prague and ask my roommate to go to a new restaurant with me. This is such a great way to take in all of your host country and to see as much as possible during your stay.
Pros
  • So much to do in Prague
  • Friendly directors
  • Fun field trips
Cons
  • No ac in apartments
  • No business courses offered

Exactly what it should be!

This experience was what a study abroad experience should be. It was a centralized location, so it was easy to travel to other countries, and it was an easy place to become immersed. The program directors on site did a fantastic job with organizing programs and trips and our apartment was awesome. I took classes in relevant subjects to my business degree, and I learned about areas of history in the world that I have never had the opportunity for up until this point. There were some cultural differences with the post communism environment there, but it wasn't hard to adapt.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The bear moat around Cesky Krumlov!

Something I will never forget

Studying abroad was one of the best decisions I ever made. It can be nerve racking at first but I had some of the best faculty / staff to help me through this journey. Going on this trip I made friendships with people that will last forever. I made memories that I will never forget. I was also able to find a city that I have fallen in love with and might move to in the future. I can’t recommend enough to people that if you can you 100% should study abroad. It is something that changes you for the better.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Before this study abroad I was nervous about going to Prague since I didn’t know many people who had gone and I knew they spoke a different language. I learned though that I found a hidden gem in Europe and I found out most people speak English and are willing to teach you some Czech.
Pros
  • Beautiful
  • Walkable
  • Amazing public transportation
Cons
  • A little hot in the summer without AC
  • Language barrier sometimes happens with older residents
  • The local food is be a bit intimidating
