Rabat in April

Coming from central Europe I had expected Africa to be hot, but Rabat was not hot at all. I had a fabulous week with a very typical Moroccan family who had their house right in the centre of the town in the market area with all its pictures little shops and streets full of life.

I was in a very lucky position to not have to worry about any noise while asleep, and thus, I did not even hear the Athan calling in the early mornings; and his calling every day I did not mind.

The family showed great hospitality and looked after me in the best possible way. Their food had been excellent . We talked a lot in Arabic which was precisely my reason for coming to Morocco.

Ali, the program director, showed a great sense of professional as well as the staff. He was always eager to help and answer me if I have any questions regarding culture, the program and safety.

So, on the whole I really enjoyed my visit. I would highly recommend this program to any student who wants to improve his level of speaking in Arabic as well as writing and reading.

Rabat in 2 weeks

I found MCAS an excellent program. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed 2 weeks learning Arabic in the morning, and exploring the Moroccan capital in the afternoons. Our host families were wonderful, and living within the old quarter, the Medina, a lot of fun. We also had the opportunity to visit other cities, such as Casablanca, Fez, and Meknes, on our own. One day my host took me to the northern Moroccan coast to the city of Castillejos which is the Spanish name of this city. The trip was wonderful as we could see the Mediterranean Sea, and Spain across the Straits of Gibraltar.

I found our teacher excellent, very patient, and a very good instructor. I also felt completely safe in Rabat, including the evening. I would recommend this highly and plan to return soon.

Arabic with MCAS

I had an amazing experience in Morocco. Thanks to MCAS’s wonderful teachers and staff! Without doubt, they are the most dedicated, helpful and professional group of people I have ever met. There are no words to describe the incredible last thirty days in Morocco, the teachers were beyond impressive, the accommodations were great and the staff went beyond the call of duty to make sure that the students were comfortable and had no other worries than to apply themselves to studying Arabic and enjoying their experience in Morocco.

During my program I volunteered with Amnesty International while taking Arabic with MCAS, and I learned so much about human rights situation in Morocco. I had the chance to meet with many acitivists and had not been for MCAS's director who made those contacts for me.

What would you improve about this program?
I think MCAS has been a great experinece thank yo the director to the program whom we could not thank enough for being helpful all the time.

Yes I would recommand it to anyone looking to spend a time in a county that never seizes to amaze.

Semester Program with MCAS

I had a great experience with the Moroccan Center for Arabic Studies. I was able to get a feel for what life is like for Moroccans my own age by meeting many fellow students. I also learned all about the culture and history of Morocco by visiting several historical sites. I am right now enjoying Eid in Morocco with my host family, and I had a great chance of experiencing that for the first time. I feel a bit sad to be leaving in 1 week, and I wish I could make this stay longer.

What would you improve about this program?
I want to study again in Morocco next summer 2014 and hope to keep using the Moroccan Center for Arabic Studies to do so. I highly recommend the center to anyone interested in visiting Morocco.

I loved Morocco, and my experience with MCAS

I am currently taking a semester abroad from the University of Saints Andrews and volunteering in a school inside medina of Rabat where I teach English to kids with MCAS. This has been a very good program so far. The facility is big, located in a very safe and nice area.

My Moroccan host family is so amazing and welcoming and the staff programs are very helpful.

What would you improve about this program?
I wish I could stay more

Questions & Answers

That’s really helpful. Thank you, Julia! She has booked a two week stay and will be doing 8 hours of Arabic per day, and then some volunteering. She’s a bit apprehensive, but is looking forward to it. I really appreciate your input. Fay
