About Program

Want to make a real difference? Join Mayor Potencial and work closely with community members in Honduras to support the development of sustainable programs and projects. Some of the rewarding activities you will partake in include helping students respond to their penpals in the US, meeting with sugar cane farmers and local artisans, and helping to build a school expansion. Past participants have returned to the US and helped to sponsor treatment for a child with cancer. Another student is working on helping expand a local loofah market to the US. Whatever project or program you may be interested in developing, we will help you make that difference.

Participants will be traveling to El Rodeito for one week. El Rodeito is a rural village in El Paraiso, Honduras. Participants will stay together in group lodging provided by Mayor Potencial.

Testimonials
“Everyone in El Rodeito worked together to better the community. It was great to see and that is something I want to take back to my community…Supporting one another not just because we’re friends but because we are in the same place striving for the same goal to better ourselves and to grow stronger.” – Zena K., Cornell Unversity ‘15

"...The people we encountered were more hospitable and welcoming than most people I have met stateside. The community is receptive to feedback and excited to collaborate for improvement..." - Paige W., Cornell University '18
