About Program

Summerbridge student teachers are between the ages of 16 to 22 from high schools and universities around the world, such as the US, UK, Canada, and Hong Kong. They are a diverse group bringing a variety of talents and backgrounds to the program; some come with prior teaching experience while others teach for the first time. With the help and guidance from professional teachers, student teachers commit to seven weeks of intensive teaching and community service, in which they complete a teacher training, create their own curriculum, teach their own classes, administer programs, and evaluate student performance. Common to all student teachers is a desire to help young people, a commitment to both teaching and learning, and a willingness to work in a demanding yet highly rewarding environment that celebrates academic achievement, creativity, individuality, and risk-taking.
