Straight Outta Guangzhou

It's daunting prospect, I remember. Now even more so with the drastic global changes that happened over the last few years. The distance and paperwork seem endless, especially for those who have never left the familiarity of the E.U.

However, you're at no point left in the dark. Andrew is himself something of an old-hand when it comes to China.
When you arrive, you'll meet and greet cohorts spread around the country from the same program, as well as veterans from previous years. It is very easy to travel and adventure around the country in your spare time thanks to China's speedy infrastructure and having this existing social network makes it twice as practical.

If you're doing it for a year, great. If you're doing it for longer, even better.

Put in the effort to get through the application processes, you will not regret it.

Pros
  • Comfortable lifestyle living here.
  • You can learn a new language and set of beliefs.
  • Solid support from the company if you experience any issues.
Cons
  • Culture shock.

Really straightforward process

TravelGrad made things super easy to travel, everything was really clear.

You travel with a group of people which makes it much easier to socialise out there.

You end up getting pretty good pay for China, and you don’t end up working too much, which makes for a great work life balance.

The lengthy winter break also gives you great opportunities to travel to other areas of Asia, especially now that China’s relaxed their covid policies. South East Asia is relatively close and really cheap, so it’s a great jumping off point for there.

All in all, it’s great. You get what you signed up for. It gives you a great basis to make what you want out of travel.

Pros
  • Travel opportunities
  • Socialising
  • Pay

Travel Grad - China

I went to China with Travelgrad and can honestly say I had a brilliant time. Not only did I meet some people that will be with me for life, the opportunity to travel and see some of the most beautiful sites in the world is truly once in a life time. Travel Grad were supportive in every step of getting there and the fact you go with a group makes the transition so much easier. The work itself gave such a fantastic work life balance and the kids I taught were unforgettable. Travel Grad is the only company I would recommend. 5/5

Travelgrad review

Strongly recommend using travelgrad. Andrew is very helpful and very supportive every step of the way. He was there for me when I was having a tough time in Korea and he helped me a lot! He’s a great guy to know and I’m very appreciative of everything he has done for me.

He helped with emotional support as well as professional support and advice! I couldn’t recommend him and travelgrad more. If you’re looking for an adventure, I strongly recommend teaching abroad. Towards the end of the contract I had an amazing time and it was a mixed experience but overall I really enjoyed myself.

Pros
  • Great support
  • Very helpful
  • Very easy to apply

Great program, super helpful and easy

The travelgrad program helped me go to and teach in China. They were super helpful throughout the entire process, answering any and all question, no matter how silly they seemed. They made the whole process super easy, and continued their support the whole time whilst I was in China.

They took on board exactly whereabouts in China I wanted to live in, and what age groups I wanted to teach, and set me up with the perfect school. And when I wanted to move to the other side of the country for a year, they were super accommodating and helped find a great school for me to move to.

I also met some of my closest friends through this program. Everyone you meet is so nice and I've definitely made some lifelong friends through this program.

I'm so appreciative to travelgrad, and everyone who was there for me both before and during my time in China.

Pros
  • Easy process
  • Super helpful throughout
  • Made great, lifelong friends

Travel Grad

I went through Travel Grad to come and teach English in Korea! The process to coming to Korea is quite long, and across those long month, the support and help I received from Travel Grad was absolutely amazing! Any issue I had, I was immediately reassured by Andrew and together we came up with a solution! In those 8 months that I was in the process, there was a lot going on and I was extremely overwhelmed! I would not have been able to go through it alone or without Travel Grad. The support was tailored to my needs! I am so glad I went with Travel Grad, I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of working abroad!

Pros
  • Supportive
  • Helpful

China in Oct 2022

I successfully arrived in Shenzhen in October 2022 with Travelgrad. At the time China had strict Covid entry regulations but Travelgrad were very helpful and supportive, as well as realistic about the situation. They kept in regular contact and made the whole process as straightforward as possible. Although it wasn’t easy, I felt very well informed and supported throughout it all. Travelgrad also made sure I was put in contact with other teachers arriving in Shenzhen at the same time so I have settled in well. I am glad I went to Shenzhen with Travelgrad and would recommend them.

Pros
  • Great Communication
  • Straightforward process

Amazing experience going to China

I heard about this company from a colleague of mine and as I was a bit bored with my job decided to give this a go. The whole process was very fast. Andrew, the man in charge was so helpful and guided me every step of the way. The first two weeks of sightseeing and learning weren't an extra charge either! Even when I had been moved to my school Andrew was still contactable and very helpful. For the price of the programme I 10/10 would recommend travelgrad to anyone looking for a working adventure

Pros
  • Made new friends
  • New experiences
  • New culture
Cons
  • Language barrier
