“Social Change in China” examines class, regionalism, and inequality in China since 1978—the year its new economic development strategy was adopted—set in the historical context of China's emergence as a growing international economic and political force. The credit-bearing course includes lectures, seminars, presentations, group projects, and Chinese language (optional) conducted in Suzhou and Hangzhou (the South), Chengdu (the West) and Xi’an (the North).
