About Program

Iowa State University has formed a special partnership with the College of Design in Rome to offer students a unique opportunity to spend a semester living and studying abroad Italy. This program is open to all qualified students from American 4-year institutions.

Students attend classes at our studio facilities in the historic center of Rome. In addition to developing first-hand knowledge of numerous contemporary and historic sites, buildings and works of art, students gain a familiarity with the contemporary design culture of Europe through guided field trips and complete major studio projects in their design area.

The Rome semester from Iowa State University was fantastic, mostly as an opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture for an extended period of time, but also thanks to local professors that sat in or taught their own classes for us. Being in Rome was an incredible experience, and I was able to travel around the country and Europe on weekends thanks to trains and budget airlines.
