Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here. Learn more about how Outreach360 is promoting ethical volunteering.

Life Changing Experience

Word's can't even begin to describe what I experienced for just the short time of 1 week I was in Monte Cristi (Dominican) with my college team. This experience changed me. I went there thinking I could make an impact on children's lives, but when I came back, I was changed by them. I went during their "Only English Week" which was teaching the children in the morning at a public school, in only english, then going to the learning centre in the afternoon and teaching english again. These kids are so eager to learn, and although it was hard at first for some of them, when they finally understood and learned to say something in English their faces lit up. It was very emotional. This trip gave meaning to my life, and let me grow new friendships with other volunteers. I went into this knowing no one on my team, and came out of this with new friends, a new outlook and mindset, and I'm so grateful for Outreach 360 and the kids there. I'm definitely going to be going back soon.
