Loved it!

I had a great family experience! I lived with one older women and a roommate. My host grandma was an amazing cook so I ate super well. I had a great time speaking at meals and I believe I learned the most Spanish through meals. The cultural activities were well planned and always fun. They were unique activities that were interactive and interesting and had a perfect balance of tourist visits and other activities. The classroom environment was fantastic and I loved my teacher and learned tons. I was very impressed with this program!

What would you improve about this program?
needs to be more organized - first week was very chaotic and communication was not always there

When in Spain

This program provided me with so many opportunities that I could not be more thankful for. It has been absolutely amazing getting to live in Spain and experience the culture and life here firsthand. Staying with a host family has provided me with so many excellent adventures and good talks that I will always remember. Despite the occasional chaos and constant waiting around for people, overall, this program gave me so many memories that I will never forget.

What would you improve about this program?
Having more organization and structure, and getting information out more clearly in order to have everyone together in a more efficient way.

CIEE Global Discovery

I think that the Ciee global discorvery program was an awsome program. For the usage of what we had we made the most out of the opertunity and the staff were outstanding. I have no complaints and can honestly say that i have grown as a student and a person. I would strongly recomend others to participate in the program if they could and to make sure to make the most of it. I have made so many new friends and learned so much i am so happy to have had the opertunity to met so many wonderful people.

What would you improve about this program?
I think that there is room for improvment in no other area excpet for devices. I think that the usage of diferent devices and lack of accessibilty to certain things in a way limited the runing of the program slighty.

Filmmaking Summer Abroad Session One

Communication between the program and the students were relatively poor throughout the trip. Of course there were a few program leaders who tried their best to make what they intented clear, but overall the communication was not good at all. This lack of communication was the root of a long of negativity and problems during the trip (such as several students being left behind on accident) . While I appreciate the excursions, I do wish that when we returned back to Seville after each trip we were given a day to rest and recouperate. Many other students were extremely physically tired and mentally exhasted (which affected the whole performance of the day). Class (for the film students) was fantastic and the teacher, Carlos was extremely helpful and a wonderful teacher. However, class time could have been put in a more convenient time. We had class from 6pm to 9pm, and given seista free (from 2pm to 6pm). However, since class ended so late , the students had little time to themselves and everything was closed. By the end of the day after dinner or spending time with their host family, the students would sleep around 12am or 1am. Overall the students were fantastic, but I would not recommend this program again.

What would you improve about this program?
Definately improve the communication between students and staff. I would suggest that the class time should be around 2pm to 5pm for convenience and efficiantly. I would suggest that student be given a day to recouperate after an excursion.

Response from CIEE Global Navigator

Thank you Lauren for your review. We appreciate your honest feedback regarding the communication with your program leaders. We always try do our best to be as clear as possible, but recognize that program details can vary slightly on site to adapt to weather conditions or circumstances. Regarding the students "left behind" you are referring to, we just want to clarify that the group was given the choice to either meet at a certain time to take a shuttle together, or get back on their own passed that time. But our staff ensured everyone made it home safely. Regarding the scheduling, siestas are part of daily life in Seville, and we feel it is important to immerse in the culture and live at the pace of the city. Maybe a good idea to bring back to the U.S.?!

My review

Overall, CIEE Seville high school summer abroad has been very educational and fun. The program needs improvements in their" Into The Community" activities along with communication between program leaders and students. The local activities we've in Seville, Cadiz, and Granada have all been very fun and educational. Classroom environment could use improvements but from what I have heard all of the instructors are very well trained to teach each subject.

What would you improve about this program?
Like I mentioned before the ITC's need improvement along with the communication between students, program leaders, and staff.

Sevilla for Me

I grew as a person but this program was rather disorganized. Better scheduling is necesary for all the breaks are during slow times in sevilla like siesta. I would want morning classes and more personal support. Also I had trouble with money that I had to deal with alone. I would have been a lot happier with more personal assistance. i really enjoyed working with spanish students however, so I would like to do that very early on and more often, with more kids my age. That was additionally be benefitial.

What would you improve about this program?
Scheduling, scheduling, to the max. This was a good trip, but lots of flaws prevented it from being great. Also more assistance with money management or reccommendations in that area would help.

Hello Lilly and thank you for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with Spanish high school students and grew on this trip. Gaining independence is definitely a big benefit of studying abroad! Regarding the schedule, our Seville program is unique in order to adapt to both the local culture ("siesta" time and late dinner time), and hot afternoons with temperature reaching 3 digits routinely in June and July. Again we appreciate your feedback and wish you a great school year.

Half and Half

It was a fun program and they had a lot of good activites. Some of the activies were fun like the kayaking and the cooking class. I really liked the catherdral and the trips to different cities like Granada and Cadiz. Granada was my absoulte favorite. However, i felt like it was a little bit unorganized. The Into The Community actitvites were always confusing because they never went according to plan. The teacher would say something but, something would change.

What would you improve about this program?
Be more organized and give students less lectures and more time to just observe.

Thank you Alexander for your feedback, which we will take into account for future programming. "Into the community" are great exercises to offer you to practice your lesson outside of the classroom, but we recognize this can sometimes be a challenge as it is an environment that is less controlled than the classroom and where we have to adapt to circumstances. Wishing you an awesome end of the summer and school year!

Seville Session 1

Overall, my experience here was amazing. I met amazing people, tried new things, and saw many new places. The language immersion part was very difficult to adjust to with our host families and the adjustment process as a whole was difficult to overcome, but the staff and people are very supportive. Although many ITCs were pontless, the people/students made everything enjoyable. There were moments of unorganization and communication issues, but verall everything was very memorable.

What would you improve about this program?
Organization, pairing with host families
