Adventures await!

Alliance Abroad is an incredible program. I wouldn't have had the opportunity to find such an awesome job in Australia without them! Working at the Q Station Resort in Manly is intriguing, odd and fun all at the same time and I'll always look back on this time in my life with a smile. The staff have been great and the experience unforgettable!

What would you improve about this program?
The only difficulties I've encountered was on finding housing. I felt like it would have been more helpful, and far less stressful, if Alliance Abroad had already had a place lined up for me to live. It was intense trying to start a new job in a new country and not having a place to live yet. I stayed in a run-down hostel my first several days until I found a room, and I didn't feel comfortable staying there.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your review. We are glad you are enjoying your time in Australia and at Q Station -its a unique resort.

I agree housing can be difficult- but it isn't always possible to line up accommodation before arrival as we prefer participants to actually view any accommodation before they move in. This isn't possible prior to arrival.

Keep up the videos- we enjoy watching them!

Great Life Experience

I have been here a little over a month and it has been an amazing experience. I've gotten to do things I never expected to do in my entire life. I've gained a lot of experience with the resort I am working with also. Skills I will definitely use in the future. I feel lucky every day I am here! Enjoying every minute of it, and I have time to do outdoor activities as well.

Experience of a lifetime.

I worked at Ayers Rock Resort in the Northern Territory. The staff at Alliance Abroad were great in helping me find a position and whilst i was there just knowing they'd be there to help if anything went wrong gave me peace of mind. I was told before hand that it was a remote area but i don't think i was quite prepared for how remote it would actually be. I basically lived in a desert for 6 months with some of the best and most inspiring people I have ever met. Every day i climbed a sand dune, which was right outside my front door to get to work, and at the top of this dune i had the most breath taking view. The famous Uluru was right there and i thought that eventually i would get fed up of seeing it but even on my last day i was blown away when my new friends and i sat on top of that dune and watched the sun rise over it, we also sang songs from the lion king as we sat there.
I had never lived in a small town before and with Yulara having a population of about one thousand i thought i was going to hate my new home but i absoloutley loved it. I made friends so easily and they are friends that i will have for the rest of my life. They are the kind of people that only show up in fictional travel stories, larger than life personalities, always up to something, and will and do drop by your house at three in the morning to get you to come do something extremely random, weird and amazing.
I made some great memories with them and i don't regret a day that i was there.
Before i went i was told that the company i was going to work for were really good to their staff, i didn't quite grasp how good they actually were. Meals were provided when you were working, and these were buffets cooked by five star chefs, and when you weren't working you got a discount at all the companies restaurants and supermarkets. Basically when you arrive you're given a residents card and that entitles you to discounts on everything and entry to the residents only pub/club/what ever it wanted to be that night.
Since its such a small community you get to know everyone and since your also working with the people you're living with these people quickly become your family, making working there a job as well.
I'm so thankful for the opportunity i was given to go to Ayers Rock Resort, it was the best experience i could have asked for.

Challenge

When I first started my work as a housekeeper, It was really hard to finish on time for me and I made some mistake like lost the key So I was scolded for slow pace by my manager frequently. but ,at that time, The staff who work in this company encoraged me to do work well and keep instilled confidence in my mind and I 've always tried to do my best . Now ,time after time, I became a good employee in my department. Her name is Anita. I 'd like to express my gratitude for all of her help.

An interesting job.

Living and working in Melbourne has been fantastic, the job pays well and the place I live is fun and friendly. Although work isn't always busy, and can sometimes be extremely boring, my personal time out of work has been fun! There's lots to see and do in Victoria, from drinks with friends on the beach to trips to great places like The Great Ocean Road and Wilson's Prom.
Over all I'm having the time of my life, and the experience has been worth every penny!

What would you improve about this program?
The cost is a little steep when considering the alternative options when looking for work in Australia, although the program has lead to a guaranteed job, support from the agency has been minimal, with only the occasional email at random times.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your feedback.

Although your work hasn't been as exciting as you may have hoped we are really glad you have enjoyed Melbourne (the best city in the world!). Its good that you have always found the time to explore a lot of the surrounding areas.

We have taken on board your comment about support and have added additional resources and team members to the on ground team in Australia to ensure this has improved.

A lot of Money for not much reward

The employer which has been found for me has not delivered on hours promised, suggested more responsibility than has been available and failed to pay me for the training day; which included around 2-3 hours of actual work.
Overall I shall be surprised if the business itself has not gone into administration before my scheduled departure from the position on the 20th March 2014.
There was a "meet up" of users of the AAG service planned, which has still not occurred.

Hi.

Thanks for your feedback.

Sorry that your experience hasn't been as anticipated and you don't feel your employer has lived up to expectations. We have discussed this with your employer and decided not to continue using them in our program.

We have scheduled a meet up of Melbourne participants in December and also have another one in a few weeks time which we hope you will be able to attend.

Day dream Island-AAG Is a joke!

Firstly, My time on Daydream was incredible (socially), pushing a minibar round 6 days a week not fun!. But AAG is and absolute joke, no consideration given to it's customers, my advice don't go threw them as they scam you and want more money for a second placement, a sum of $1500 extra. I hope more intern-ships have turned out like mine I have enjoyed the experience but it was all down to me, eg. you didnt even care about one client as he was stuck doing nothing, so he flew home, well done AAG !! Met some amazing people and some great memories on the beach, diving, having a drink or 2... Now en route to Sydney, found a marketing job, don't go through this "SCAM OF AN AGENCY", not worth the hassle.
P.s Thankyou for sending a sim-card for a phone 1 month after the arrival with no credit, and on a service that gets no signal, dont worry though already set-up one after ,my first week !!! Cheers for nothing AAG
