Advanced Studies in England: Summer School in Bath
- England
About Program
Come and study for five-weeks in the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath. In this program, students take two classes; one taught by UK faculty and one taught by US professors from one of our fourteen affiliate colleges. The first class offers the following courses: The Romans in Britain (history/classics), Jane Austen in Bath (English Literature), and The Triumph of Georgian Bath (art history/architecture). The US-led courses change annually, covering a range of liberal arts subjects.
Students are housed in historic townhouses throughout the city centre, within easy walking distance of the Abbey, galleries, roman baths, museums, and an array of pubs and restaurants.
Each of the US-led courses includes an overnight study trip integrated with the syllabus, and the whole program spends a weekend in Cornwall, visiting Tintagel Castle, and St Ives and walking a stretch of the Lizard Peninsula. Other optional social and cultural activities are also offered throughout the five weeks.
