Our Combined Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours) is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and approved by the DEAC (US), so has official recognition from 2 government-recognised bodies! This makes all the difference when applying for jobs.

Our course is designed with potential employers in mind. Within the industry, some employers prefer “hands-on” study rather than purely online. This is why our combined course provides 10 hours in the classroom with an additional 158 hours of online study. TEFL is a very exciting program and is equipped with a lot of opportunities to explore and learn from. It provides students with a very detailed outline of grammar concepts and methods that are effective in teaching it. The level of support and immense amount of resources at the disposal of the student makes learning more easier as it expands concepts learnt. The response time of queries is short and the feedback given is constructive really enjoyed taking the course and would definitely do the course again.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

My most nerve wrecking moment would have to be on the day my course expired since I no longer had access to the site's resources and couldn't view the ID photo which I uploaded. I was literally stressed over whether or not I'd pass the course if the ID photo doesn't get approved. Thankfully all went well.

I completed my teaching qualification through the TEFL Academy. The online coarse was completed over a 6 month period, with 2 days in class lessons with a qualified TEFL instructor. I found the online coarse rigorous which showed that they had a lot of experience in the field as the content and lessons were thoroughly researched. The in class lessons where so much fun, our instructor obviously had a lot of experience teaching online and abroad. I am really grateful for the experience and cannot wait to start my teaching career.

What was your funniest moment?

The funniest moments of this coarse were definitely the 2 days spent in class with the TEFL instructor. He was so engaging and had many stories of his exploits around the world surrounding by his talented students.

I am so happy I did the online TEFL course. I am a qualified Foundation Phase Teacher with 10 years teaching experience but I really valued this training and I learnt so much. I feel so confident in teaching foreign students and I look forward to putting my new knowledge to work. The support throughout was great and I valued the feedback I received. The course is well presented and is organised well. I am thankful to TEFL. I would gladly recommend it to others, I did actually recommend it to my husband and he is in the process of completing it.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I would have started the assignments and completed them quicker.

So I completed my 168-hr TEFL certificate through The TEFL Academy. I often had enquiries about assignments and sourcing teaching materials like worksheets and I always got a quick helpful response from the various support teams.

When it came to documentations regarding my certificate, the support teams were more than happy to help and send proof of verification and any other documents that I was missing they supplied without hesitation.

Overall I had a great experience and all that I need now is a online teaching job.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

The most nerve-racking moment was every time I was waiting for my assignment results. Even though I had to submit multiple times, I did receive help from the support teams and got guided through to fixing and understanding my mistakes.

I think what I liked most about this course was, although I am a native English speaker, I learnt quite a bit about the English language. The materials given are informative and fairly easy to follow. I also enjoyed the fact that I could do this course at my own pace. The people who marked my assignments were also extremely helpful and kind. Overall my experience was a 10 out of 10 and I plan on doing more of the courses that the TEFL Academy has to offer. I think the only downside of this experience was that because of the pandemic I was unable to go to the 2 day training classes.

One minute I was up and the next I was taking a nosedive. At times I felt like a child with a new toy and at other times I felt I had conquered the world. The TELF Acadamy Level 5 course has it all. It takes you from one English element to the next with ease, but you have to be focused and fully engaged as there are some tough challenges along the way. I learned so much from this interactive course and would highly recommend the academy. Top-notch and, what a ride into the English Language realm. Thank you.

The TEFL Academy offers excellent courses in teaching English as a foreign language. I have done a few courses with them and would honestly recommend them to anyone interested in expanding their knowledge in this area. The course content is informative and instructional and gives you all the tools you will need in your future or current teaching career. The online platform is user friendly and the ability to work at your own pace is a huge plus. Overall the TEFL Academy offers excellent courses and learner support and I highly recommend them.

What was your funniest moment?

The funniest moment I had was during the online Teaching Practical course with the TEFL Academy. It was a fun interactive Zoom class with students from all over the world. We had a lot of good laughs together while we practiced some teaching techniques with our peers.

What an exciting 7 months it has been. Beginning the course I was quite on the fence, thinking it might be a scam. However, the TEFL team set my mind at ease by answering all questions I had promptly. I teach English in Swaziland and the information I have learned showed me just how much knowledge is available to me. I am now waiting for my certificate and I am excited about the future and hoping TEFL academy will assist me in fulfilling my dreams of moving abroad and experiencing different cultures while teaching English. Thank you TEFL academy.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

If I did this again I would aim to finish the course sooner in the hope that I am able to travel soon after.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advice I would give is to plan ahead and to do your best. Worrying and stressing won't help you. The resources, as well as the markers, are there to assist and help you achieve your best. Planning ahead is beneficial as you do not want to get stuck with a pile of work and then have to ask for an extension. Just do your absolute best and you will reap the rewards.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

The TEFL course spanned over a period of 6 months which gave me ample time to complete my course accordingly. Some units take more time than others to complete, but if you plan and stick to that plan, you will not have a problem. The TEFL site also makes it easy and exciting to learn so that you do not get bored or frustrated during your study session.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I have no been abroad yet for TEFL teaching, but I am surely looking into it. I would love to travel to Asia, as I have been to India once and I absolutely loved it. I would like to visit Japan, South Korea, and China as a TEFL teacher and hopefully start my career there. I look forward to new experiences and challenges.

Any other tips for any prospective traveler?

India is a fantastic country, not quite like what I initially perceived it to be. The people are genuine and the country itself is a true wonder. My advice to anyone traveling there is to absorb as much as he/she/they can. India is rich with culture and history, full of diversity. Visiting places such as the Taj Mahal brings a totally different feeling, the atmosphere is spectacular. India is a beautiful country and so are its people.
