A rewarding learning experience from The TEFL Academy

I recently completed my 168-hour level 5 TEFL with The TEFL Academy and am extremely satisfied with the results of my studies. The course is well structured, the learning material is fun and engaging, and feedback on assignments is very helpful. The portal is easy to use, they provide you with plenty of extra resources and their customer service is excellent. I would recommend The TEFL Academy to anyone who wants to earn a TEFL for travel or to teach people around the world while experiencing their cultures. Teaching should be done because you enjoy helping others, and The TEFL Academy definitely instills this value.

Two month TEFL experience

I did my TEFL Level 5 diploma between mid-April and mid-June in 2025. Overall, I think the course gave a great introduction and overview into how to teach English as a foreign language, the four key skills, classroom management and other elements important to consider when starting to teach. There was a bit of interaction where you could read other participants' thoughts and ideas in a forum which I found useful, as well as videos with TEFL instructors which made the human connection more prominent.

At times certain parts of the course dragged on a bit and I wish you could find information in the course easier when looking back to review the material, but overall I think the content was very useful and informative for me to learn about TEFL. The assignments also allowed you to apply you knowledge into real tasks and the feedback provided was always structured and clear on what went well and what could be improved. I would definitely recommend this course to those who are complete beginners in TEFL and wish to learn more.

What would you improve about this program?
- An index where you could easier find specific content in the course e.g. if you're looking for where "flash cards" or "differentiated learning" were mentioned
- Divide up the grammar unit more because it was quite long and heavy to go through. This would also increase motivation.
- Give more age specific tips in terms of children/teens... sometimes I was missing how to teach something to a group of 6 year olds vs. a group of 11 year olds vs. a group of 17 year olds
Pros
  • Relevant and in-depth content
  • Interesting assignments that felt applicable to real life teaching
  • Great feedback that was both constructive, encouraging and timely
Cons
  • Wish there was more opportunities to interact with other learners
  • Less videos towards the end of the course - wishing there were more
  • More suggestions for activities to use in classes, especially for older age groups

A Truly Rewarding Experience with The TEFL Academy

I recently finished the Level 5 TEFL course with The TEFL Academy and I can say it exceeded my expectations. From beginning to end, the experience was smooth, engaging, and enriching.

I found the courses well-balanced. The self-paced format allowed me to fit the course around my schedule without ever feeling rushed, yet the content was detailed enough to truly prepare me for real-world teaching. The modules were thoughtfully designed, covering everything from grammar and lesson planning to classroom management and teaching strategies. I especially appreciated the practical focus: realistic scenarios, varied assignments, and short quizzes that kept the learning process dynamic and interactive.

The feedback on assignments was clear and constructive, helping me develop new skills step by step. The platform was easy to navigate, and whenever I had a question, support was responsive and helpful. I also found the downloadable resources incredibly useful and something I’ll definitely keep referring back to.

Future participants will be glad to know that while the course is rigorous, it's also very manageable if you're motivated. I’d recommend taking your time with the assignments and really applying what you learn. Also, don’t hesitate to make use of the support team—they’re there to help, and they do it well.

Overall, this course not only gave me a recognized qualification, but it also gave me the confidence and tools to move forward as a teacher. I highly recommend it to anyone considering a career in TEFL.

What would you improve about this program?
I would make the quizzes a bit more challenging and more recurrent.
Pros
  • Practical and Engaging Content
  • Flexible, Self-Paced Learning
  • Recognized and Accredited Qualification
Cons
  • Occasional Technical or Formatting Issues

Well balanced and interesting course

I recently completed The TEFL Academy’s Level 5 TEFL course, and overall I found it to be a very worthwhile experience. The course is fully online, self-paced, and consists of a well-structured 168 hours of content. The modules cover everything from teaching methodology and lesson planning to grammar and classroom management, and I felt they provided a solid foundation for becoming an English teacher.

One of the biggest strengths was the quality of feedback. Each assignment was graded thoroughly, with helpful comments that really encouraged me to improve. The course is also Ofqual-regulated, which gave me extra confidence that my certificate would be recognized internationally. Support was responsive whenever I had questions, and I appreciated the flexibility of studying at my own pace.

In terms of value for money, this is definitely a step up from shorter, cheaper TEFL options — especially if you want a respected qualification that will help you stand out when applying for teaching positions. It took some discipline to complete, but the knowledge and practical skills I gained have already made me feel much more prepared to enter the classroom.

If you’re looking for a credible, challenging course that will give you both theory and practical tools for teaching, I’d highly recommend The TEFL Academy’s Level 5 TEFL.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The last assignement was difficult but I managed to pass.
Pros
  • Own pace
Cons
  • Lack of communicating with other students

Great Time

I honestly had a blast in this program. I learnt so much on not only the complexities of teaching English and explaining it, but the complexities of the planning behind it. I have gained so much more love and appreciation for teachers and what they do. It surely has to be because of the love they have for teaching and mentoring.
On the program, I think it such a great one. I regret not doing the combined course, but the support online was so awesome. I appreciated the tutors and support from the team.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
Do it quicker thank the 3 months. I realised how much I procrastinated on it when I could have honestly finished it way earlier. It is incredibly doable if you put the time and effort in.
Pros
  • Support Team
  • Learning new skills
  • Gaining another certificate
Cons
  • Online = not much practice on your side

Easy to follow, well laid out course

I'm very happy that I chose to complete my Level 5 TEFL diploma with the TEFL Academy. The course was simple to follow and engaging throughout. I liked how the sections were broken up and the tests at the end of each unit were helpful for tracking progress and understanding. I found the content of the course very interesting, and having not studied for nearly 10 years it felt to be good to challenge myself again. I would definitely recommend using The TEFL Academy if you are thinking of completing your TEFL.

The (re)start of something great!

At the tender age of 32 I finally decided to leave my career as a Registered Nurse along with all the stress.
Alas, I left the hospital and changed cities, but now what?

I always only heard about people doing a TEFL course but never really gave it any real thought. Then it hit me. Like a beacon of hope in a dark storm, I came across The TEFL Academy and knew this is what I needed to restart my journey through life.

From great progress monitoring, great structure, and from-scratch training, the fee I had to pay which seemed like a lot at the beginning, now seems like the best value for money I ever received.

Being a nurse all my life I never could have thought it possible for me to ever go into a new career as an EFL teacher. But now I feel confident and ready to jump into a world of new a great possibilities!

To be honest, I owe The TEFL Academy my sanity and my rejuvenated sense of adventure!

A rewarding and flexible TEFL journey.

I recently completed the Level 5 TEFL course with The TEFL Academy, and I truly enjoyed every moment of it. The course was well-structured, flexible, and easy to follow perfect for someone like me with a busy schedule. The content was both challenging and interesting.

I've always dreamed of having a teaching qualification, and this course made that dream come true. Growing up, I had incredible English teachers who made learning fun and meaningful. The TEFL Academy gave me the tools and confidence I needed to start my teaching journey, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking about doing the same.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I could do it all over again, I would definitely plan my study schedule more realistically. At first, I tried to push myself to study 3 to 4 hours a day while working a full-time 8–5 job. That pace didn’t last long, and I started to feel burnt out. In hindsight, I would have created a more balanced study plan and timetable from the beginning to manage my time and energy better.
Pros
  • Flexible Schedule: The course is self-paced, which made it easy to fit around my full-time job and personal life.
  • The material was well-structured, informative, and kept me interested throughout.
  • The feedback I received on assignments was detailed and encouraging, helping me improve and gain confidence.
Cons
  • Since it's online and self-paced, you really need to stay disciplined and manage your time well.
  • The coursework can feel intense if you don’t pace yourself properly from the start.
  • Although the course is comprehensive, I sometimes missed having real-time discussions or live interaction.
