Our Combined Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours) is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and approved by the DEAC (US), so has official recognition from 2 government-recognised bodies! This makes all the difference when applying for jobs.

Our course is designed with potential employers in mind. Within the industry, some employers prefer “hands-on” study rather than purely online. The staff of the TEFL Academy are brilliant and very helpful. Anytime I had a query or a problem that needed help they replied to the email quickly and helped me find a solution to my problem. The recorded lives of each assessment (except for C as there wasn’t one! We’re very helpful and made it easier to understand what to do for each part of the assessments. The case study’s in each unit also made it easier to understand how to put each teaching skill needed into practice and gave great examples.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

Coming to the end of the course after being sick and not having finished yet.

I found the course to be challenging, but I enjoyed the challenge and learned so much about how to approach a lesson and how to give a lesson that foreign students will understand.
The assessments after each chapter are very insightful and really do challenge what you learned in the chapter, the assignments prepare you for a actual lessons that you will be doing in your future teaching career.
On completing the course I was surprised to see how many job opportunities there are, online and the need for English teachers in different countries.

One of the most easy processes I have ever encountered in my life. Applying and paying to take part in the course was super smooth and easy. Once they opened my page for me to start learning, I was able to get to all the material I needed. There was even a tutorial of how to use the online platform before you began the actual course. The actual course was concise, clear, integrative, interactive and provided many useful resources, examples and ideas. The quizzes really made me feel that I absorbed the information and the fact that it could be done over if you weren’t satisfied with your result was amazing ! The assignments were explained really well with templates to assist you all the way. I logged a ticket to one of the people who work at The TEFL Academy and they responded within minutes to assist me. Once I completed the course, I immediately received communication about how to receive my certificate and I received it within 3 weeks. Couldn’t be more satisfied with this course and the company through which I completed it.

What would you improve about this program?

Absolutely nothing ! They have thought of absolutely everything and provide 24/7 assistance.

The TEFL course is one of amazing value and ease. The course is set in such a way that is allows for students to go at their own pace while providing plenty of support all the time. The setup is straightforward and is not confusing, unlike many other online course types. The in-person course provides incredibly valuable information for even experienced teachers and provides a great platform for new teachers to start their teaching journey. TEFL also gives great opportunities to its graduates overseas.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I would spend a bit more time going through each assignment thuroughly

I had a great experience completing the TEFL course from The TEFL Academy. The course provides an in-depth study of different teaching methods as well as a thorough overview of the topics that are taught in a TEFL classroom. The course material is varied and well-structured which makes learning interesting and engaging. The in-person workshop helped me become more confident in my teaching abilities and showed me how key preparation is. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in pursuing a career in TEFL.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

It was surprisingly nerve-wracking having to teach in front of fellow TEFL students at the in-person workshop, however, the trainer and students were encouraging, and I feel more confident in my ability to teach now!

Doing this TEFL course was such a great way for me to grow in my teaching career. It really did challenge me but in a good way - I was able to overcome something I thought was to hard for me. Doing this course really did teach me the values of staying consistent and staying focused! I was able to get help when ever I needed it, and the tutor was so kind when guiding me on my assignments! Over all I am so happy for taking this journey with TEFL as it helped me grow in many aspects of myself. I would recommend this course to anyone who asks me about it.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

My most nerve racking moment was doing my last assignment, I felt stuck when doing and though I was not able to finish it as I didn’t believe in myself, it was when I contacted the tutor who was so kind and encouraging when helping me with my assignment that at the end I managed to do it and pass.

The TEFL course was unlike anything I've pursued before. I was given the material and could work through it at my own pace on my own time, which made it easy for me to manage whilst doing my undergraduate in psychology. Everyone is given six months to complete the course but if you dedicate yourself to it, it can easily be done in 2. I Highly recommend any person fresh out of high school or even people who have at least 1 hour of free time a day to do this course. The entire course is completed online and everything is self-taught.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

I started my assignments only after completing all the course material, and they were taking longer than I expected. I was worried that I would not be able to finish in time but luckily the student support assured me that I still had an extra month left. I'm very grateful for the active student support service.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advice I would give is to plan ahead and to do your best. Worrying and stressing won't help you. The resources, as well as the markers, are there to assist and help you achieve your best. Planning ahead is beneficial as you do not want to get stuck with a pile of work and then have to ask for an extension. Just do your absolute best and you will reap the rewards.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

The TEFL course spanned over a period of 6 months which gave me ample time to complete my course accordingly. Some units take more time than others to complete, but if you plan and stick to that plan, you will not have a problem. The TEFL site also makes it easy and exciting to learn so that you do not get bored or frustrated during your study session.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I have no been abroad yet for TEFL teaching, but I am surely looking into it. I would love to travel to Asia, as I have been to India once and I absolutely loved it. I would like to visit Japan, South Korea, and China as a TEFL teacher and hopefully start my career there. I look forward to new experiences and challenges.

Any other tips for any prospective traveler?

India is a fantastic country, not quite like what I initially perceived it to be. The people are genuine and the country itself is a true wonder. My advice to anyone traveling there is to absorb as much as he/she/they can. India is rich with culture and history, full of diversity. Visiting places such as the Taj Mahal brings a totally different feeling, the atmosphere is spectacular. India is a beautiful country and so are its people.
