I'm studying in London... what zone should I try to live in?

My program doesn't offer housing help, so I'm not sure how far is too far.

Hey Natalie! Where are you studying? I attended Goldsmiths University for grad school and lived in Streatham which was a bit of a hike but I liked the area and there was a direct train which made the commute easy.

I think what is most important is that there is a good way to commute to your school if you are living in a zone farther away -- taking a 1 hour train is way easier than taking a bus, to a train, to the tube.

Gosh, how many zones are there now? My school was in Zone 1, and I lived in Zone 2... I knew people who lived as far out as Zone 5! Personally, I'd try to stay within 1-2 zones of whichever your school is in, and live near public transit (buses count – London buses are great!).
