Can you work while studying in England? How can you find jobs?

I've read this may not be possible because of the visas, but what about unpaid internships or similar?

Depends are what passport you hold, but as someone from the US I was able to work part time on my student visa. You could also freelance for a US company (writing, doing any other kind of remote work) or nanny/ babysit.

If you are looking for an unpaid internship that is absolutely something you can do without a work visa, and they'll often cover your transportation or meals as compensation.

Tricky question. It really depends on your visa. Personally, I was not supposed to work for any sort of monetary compensation while on my Tier 4 Student Visa – these rules had changed recently before I studied abroad (2012-2013), so I basically did free/volunteer internships.

I'd check with the UKBA (Border Agency) when you apply for your visa. They can tell you for sure.
