About Program

Take a United Planet gap year to volunteer abroad in Colombia! Colombia is full of beautiful and various landscapes, with coastlines on both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the Andes Mountains, tropical rainforests, and volcanoes. Volunteers can spend their time with new friends and family, dance the merengue, play fútbol (soccer), hike in the mountains, or practice their Spanish. Colombia is considered a “mega-diverse” country because it is home to descendants of native peoples, Africans, colonists, and immigrants for Europe and the Middle East.

Volunteers are placed in Colombia for 6 or 12 months as part of the United Planet gap year program. As a volunteer in Colombia, you will be hosted by ICYE Colombia. Based in the capital city of Bogotá, the team of 18 local community members works to create lifelong meaning through volunteer projects.

This program is currently not being promoted on Go Overseas by its provider. Check with United Planet for the most up-to-date information regarding the status of this program.
