About Program
Dive into aerospace engineering, space exploration, and the race to Mars on this program in Washington, D.C., and Houston, home to NASA's Johnson Space Center. In the nation's capital, investigate the politics of space exploration in conversation with legislators and historians, as well as the history of flight at Smithsonian museums. On your way south to Houston, stop in Shenandoah National Park to stargaze, learn the basics of aerodynamics, and build and launch your own model rockets. In Houston, meet with scientists at the Johnson Space Center, go behind the scenes at NASA's training facilities, speak with experts about what it would take to colonize Mars, and more.
