Why choose TEAN?

Jenny: I choose to study abroad with TEAN because from the first day I chatted with them, they were so eager to help me out. From day one, I felt very informed with everything that I needed to do. They really helped my study abroad process run very smoothly.

What made this study abroad experience unique and special?

Jenny: My study abroad was very unique because I went all by myself to another country. I did not go with anyone I knew which made me grow personally and mentally. I really learned a lot about myself over the semester. I made so many friends in doing so from all over the world! It was truly an eye opening experience that allowed me to learn about various cultures.

How has this experience impacted your future?

Jenny: I can now share my special memories with anyone I encounter. I can only hope that I impact their lives enough so they are interested in studying abroad. Also, this will help me stand out as an applicant from a professional standpoint in the near future. I have enjoyed many experiences that not many people have before! I have new, fresh and exciting topics I can talk about. This sets me apart from everyone else in the crowd. I can’t recommend studying abroad enough. Everyone should go through TEAN’s well-rounded, amazing organization. They will never steer you wrong, just go for it!

Highlights: One of my favorite parts of my trip was when I sailed the Great Barrier Reef with my friend for a long weekend. We spent four days sailing all over the coast of Queensland and frequently stopping to snorkel and lay on the beach. We had our own chef on our yacht that would cook for us! It was a very awesome experience, one that I recommend very much.

From an academic standpoint, I really enjoyed taking a variety of Criminology classes being taught from an Australian standpoint. I was able to see how Australian’s interpret American crime and how they handle crime in their country.

Morning: My typical morning I would wake up pretty early for a college kid... Usually up around 7am so I could enjoy my mornings and get a healthy breakfast before a workout. I would eat Muesli with yogurt and fruit mostly every morning. Our dining hall was directly outside of my dorm. Every morning the chefs and my Aussie friends would greet me! They loved having the Americans at their school. I felt so welcomed in a foreign country. I would sit with them as they discussed the “hot” topics going on in America. They really couldn’t get enough of my culture! Fascinating!

Afternoon: After my morning workouts and “brekky” in the am, I usually grabbed a delicious coffee on the way to class. I couldn’t get enough of the coffee there. I’ve never had coffee so rich and caffeinated as this. Most of my classes were directly after lunch and went until 4pm. After class I would usually head back to shower and hang with my American friends for a bit.

Evening: Once a week my friend Kat & I would take the bus into town and get Thai food. On my other nights I would go downstairs to the dining hall and grab some dinner with my American and Aussie mates. Dinner always gave us time to catch up with each other and tell each other what’s going on in our lives. We all had evening tea and would chat for hours in there!
