What is your favorite travel memory?
My favorite travel memory is my first visit to Asia visiting Nepal and Thailand in 1989. Although I had traveled many times to Europe, this trip to Asia really awakened my love of travel and opened my eyes to so many new cultures and experiences. It is such a strong memory because of the sights, sounds and smells that were so exotic to me at the time. It instilled such a desire of exploring more of Asia which has never left me.
How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?
I have really loved to share my love of volunteering and travel with our new volunteers. Many of them have never traveled outside of the USA prior to one of our trips and I love to awaken that sense of wonder which I felt when I started to travel. For many, our trips start a life of travel and giving which continue life long. It is gratifying and humbling to play a role in this amazing change in people's lives.
What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?
Our organization is unique in that we combine a specific health service (dentistry) with volunteering in an underdeveloped country. We provide a very valuable service which is often lacking and provide a unique opportunity to our volunteers to experience the life and culture of our host countries.
Our team is very dedicated to providing a memorable experience to our volunteers coupled with aid to people who lack access to dental care.
What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?
The biggest factor in the success in our organization are our team members who provide meticulous preparation, passion and hard work in the success of our clinics and volunteer trips. We strive to provide an incredible experience during our volunteer trips and allow the traveler to experience the sights and sounds of our host country while providing a valuable health service which provides enormous dividends.
