Candice worked as Globalteer's Volunteer Coordinator for 2 years before moving into the Marketing role. She moved from Australia to Peru to take on the role and loves exploring the many great hiking opportunities that Latin America has to offer. This is not her first experience living abroad, having also lived and worked in Cambodia. An opportunity she used to travel extensively through Asia!

What is your favorite travel memory?

I traveled through Colombia one December/January. It was an amazing experience to be so kindly welcomed into peoples' Christmas celebrations and experience Christmas in another culture. However, the main highlight of the trip was spending New Years Eve in Cartagena. Dancing salsa in the streets of the Walled City as fireworks went off overhead was a magical way to start a new year.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Even though I have travelled extensively and even lived abroad in Cambodia already, I feel like I have continued to grow my view and understand of the world by living in Peru and working for my current company.

It has also showed me the importance of working for a company you believe in. It really motivates me knowing I am working for a company that is really making a difference and making positive impacts in the world.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

I love when volunteers return again to projects with their family or friends. Knowing that they had such a great experience that they would want to come back itself is great, but the fact they also wish return with loved ones makes it even more special when they return. Watching them form even stronger bonds by sharing the experience together is something that will always be amazing!

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I am lucky enough to have visited a few of our projects - all our projects in Peru, as well as the Elephant Sanctuary in Cambodia. Which were all amazing experiences.

Now I would love to go to the Costa Rica Sea Turtle Conservation Project next. I have always wanted to go to Costa Rica and absolutely love turtles. So it would be a dream to help such an amazing project working to protect and save sea turtles in a dream destination!!

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I am especially proud of the strong ethical standards we have, and also the care we take when selecting the projects. We make sure all the projects have long term sustainable goals that make a real difference to the communities and environments they work with. I am especially proud of how all members of the team are dedicated to ethical values.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I believe the biggest factor to the success of a company is having a passionate team of people who strongly believe in the company's values. I believe that shared values creates an environment for success; as it allows people to be able to work well together towards common goals. When working together towards the same goals it also creates a positive work environment, which I believe is another key factor for success.
