What is your favorite travel memory?

One of my favorite travel memories was last summer in New York. I went with my little one and it felt like rediscovering the city all over again, but through his eyes! Everything felt new and full of wonder. You realize how much we take for granted when we’re rushing through life and traveling with a child forces you to slow down, appreciate the little things and find magic in the everyday. It reminded me why I love traveling so much—there’s always something new to learn, no matter how many times you’ve been somewhere.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I’ve grown so much personally and professionally through my time at The Learning Abroad Co. My journey started back in 2014 as an intern, and since then, I’ve worked across different departments and roles. That experience has given me a deep understanding of both our internal operations and the student journey—because I’ve been in their shoes.

I’ve also worked in other industries and as a freelancer for small businesses, but The Learning Abroad Co. feels like home. It’s part of my story. I’ve learned that when your work is rooted in passion and purpose, it shows.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

One of my favorite stories is about a student who came back to Spain after doing an internship and language course abroad. When he returned, he not only had much stronger English skills but also a totally new mindset! He was motivated, curious and eager to shake things up in the workplace. While juggling university and a couple part-time jobs, he started sketching out a business idea. Fast forward a few years, and he’s now running his own start-up, partnering with both small businesses and some pretty big-name companies. What I love most is that even with all his success, he still has that same spark he found during his time abroad. He’s grateful, driven and always thinking about what’s next and how we can help people. Stories like his are a big reminder of why we do what we do, they show how one experience abroad can completely change someone’s path.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Honestly, I’d go on most of them! :) But if I had to choose, I’d love to do one of our faculty-led programs. I think if I had the chance to join something like that during college, it would have helped me better understand what kind of work environment or career path I was drawn to. These programs give students the opportunity to visit companies, attend seminars and learn outside the classroom, it’s something I think we need more of in Spain. They also open your eyes to how other countries, cultures and people work and live. You start to realize that there isn’t just one “right” way of doing things—there are many, and they’re all valuable. That kind of perspective stays with you for life.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

It’s the people—our team, our students and our partners—that make The Learning Abroad Co. truly special. We’re a passionate group of humans who care deeply about creating meaningful experiences for students. Our team is local, experienced and genuinely invested in helping others grow. We’ve built strong, lasting connections in the communities we work with, and that helps our students feel supported and seen.

One of my proudest moments was seeing how our team worked together during a busy season with multiple groups arriving—we leaned on each other, stayed grounded in our mission and made sure every student felt welcome.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I think success comes from having a team that truly believes in what they do. We’re all driven by the same goal: helping young people grow, learn and discover new paths through international experiences.

There’s also a real culture of curiosity and inclusivity here — traits that we value not just in our programs but in our people. When you care about the experience, when you see students not as numbers but as humans with potential, that’s when real impact happens. That’s when a company becomes more than a company, it becomes a community.
