Staff Spotlight: Jill Tabuteau

Did YOU intern abroad?! If so, where and what inspired you to go?

Jill: I decided I wanted to work somewhere different and not spend my summer doing the usual holiday job. I did not intern overseas, however I did do a work abroad program at the end of my first year at University.

I went to America and managed to find a job in the marketing department of a bank. It was a great experience, working in an office (something I hadn’t done before), understanding how US organizations operate and getting to know Manhattan as an insider. I made lots of American friends and realized that it’s not all like it is in the TV shows.

As part of my degree program I spent a year abroad at the University of Minnesota. I had never been to the mid-west but Minneapolis was a great place to be a student and yes, I managed to survive the winter! I will never complain about the weather in the UK again. I was also able to spend 3 months traveling around the US. I’m very jealous of students nowadays as they have so many more options, I would always recommend taking the opportunity to ‘Go Overseas’ – I don’t know anyone who has ever regretted studying or interning abroad.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Jill: Good customer service. At Anglo Educational Services we have several ‘customers’ – the university, students, faculty etc. It is sometimes a challenge keeping everyone happy, but I believe if we listen to what our customers need and want then we will provide the best possible service. This also means constantly reviewing our programs and listening to feedback (both good and bad) and implementing changes if necessary.

What country have you always wanted to visit?

Jill: I’d love to go to Mozambique and experience the mixture of Portuguese and African culture, beautiful coast line and the national parks.

What was your favorite traveling experience?

Jill: Every time I go to a new country I always think it’s the best place I’ve been to. A few years ago I went to the Water Festival (New Year Celebrations) in Mandalay, Myanmar. We drove around in an open truck while being sprayed with water hoses – it probably broke every health and safety regulation, but it was great fun and everyone was so friendly, including us in their celebrations. I don’t think I’ve laughed so much in a long time and of course the more we laughed the more they turned the hoses on us!

What unique qualities does your company possess?

Jill: Anglo Educational Services has a dedicated team of staff who can pride themselves on being able to provide a full service from start to finish for study or intern abroad programs. We work with universities to put a together a program that suits their specific needs, we can provide transport, accommodation, guest speakers, class rooms, faculty, internships and as a Tier 4 sponsor we can ensure that students have the correct visa (if necessary) to intern in the London. This means our clients just deal with one organization for everything they need for developing a program whether in the UK or Europe for one week or 3 months.
