Title::
Placement Coordinator
My name is Zayra Duarte and I am the Placement Coordinator in Worldwide Internships. I studied International Relations with a specialty in Tourism at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. I am 23 years old and I love to dance.

What language have you always wanted to learn and why?

Zayra: Language learning is really important for me because it gives me the opportunity to immerse into any culture in the world.

friends at Fundidora Park Monterrey Mexico

I found the cultural diversity as an opportunity to understand that we are not totally different from people who live in other countries and that we have similar thoughts, interests, hobbies, etc., and we can help each other to live in a better world.

What country have you always wanted to visit?

Zayra: The country that I have always wanted to visit is Germany because the culture is really interesting and progressive. Also the people are totally different from the stereotype we usually tend to have. Three years ago I had the opportunity to meet a German friend and he gave me an alternate perception. We’re definitely good friends now!

Describe a time when you felt especially proud to be part of the Worldwide Internship team.

Zayra: I felt especially proud to be part of the Worldwide Internships team because I have realized that these programs give the opportunity not only to give someone a professional experience but allows them to have a personal experience, too.

This holistic internship experience enables you to go beyond your comfort zone and develop personally and professionally more than you’ve ever imagined.

What changes would you make to the intern abroad industry?

Zayra: The changes I would make to the intern abroad industry would be to change the visa procedures. I think that most of the time people are nervous about it because all governments have a lot of restrictions. I think that it would be awesome if ALL the countries could be more open with this kind of situation and establish a specific kind of visa for the interns across the board.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

Zayra: The best stories I have heard from return students have been when they finished their internships and as they did really well, the hotel or company gave them the opportunity to get a job. These kinds of stories make me feel so proud because it means that they could get a really good professional and personal experience and also that they contributed to the hotel or company to improve the way they work. It is amazing to hear from them that they are really happy with their experiences!
