Long Way Home's mission as a registered US 501(c)3 is to use sustainable design and materials to construct self-sufficient schools that promote education, employment and environmental stewardship. Our vision is to empower communities to break the cycle of poverty through innovative solutions to local challenges.

Outreach Coordinator Position Summary:
Long Way Home is looking for a highly motivated, collaborative thinker. We are a small organization and therefore require a team of high-energy individuals, ready to serve our mission. The ideal candidate would combine their expertise with an attitude of positivity and curiosity to help us attain our vision. This position operates under moderate supervision. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for communication and presence of the organization in all outlets for Long Way Home. This position is full time on-site at Long Way Home’s school campus in rural Guatemala.

Outreach Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Supports Development Director in managing fundraising platforms, drafting quarterly newsletters, and generating annual report.
- With Development Director, research and submit for publishing, blogging, and grant opportunities.
- With Development Director, seek out strategic partnerships locally and globally to share our green building and education story.
- Bi-weekly (at the minimum) updates Facebook, Instagram, and other social media sites with project relevant media.
- Creation of one construction focused “How-To” video per month, in collaboration with Volunteer Coordinator.
- Co-Chair weekly Outreach committee meeting by creating agendas and ensuring follow-up
- Manages Global Giving and Network for Good, our online donor network websites, by submitting project update reports every 3 months and recording donations.
- Co-lead fundraising campaigns with Development Director (2 times per year)
- Update Outreach monthly budget and report to Finance Manager
- Manages media archives - photos and videos.
- Give site tours of Centro Educativo Tecnico Chixot school campus.
- Create marketing materials following LWH branding requirements, using InDesign and Canva
- Assists in managing materials on LWH website using Squarespace platform
- Work with team on donor appreciation campaigns.
- Support Volunteer Program as needed
- Available for assistance as needed.

Work & Living Environment:
- Working conditions: office/computer majority of the time, 5+ hrs/week on construction site.
- Living and working in rural Guatemala.
- Maintaining a low-impact sustainable lifestyle.
- Shared housing with coworkers and/or volunteers.
- Light construction/material handling may be required.
- Employee may encounter intestinal parasites. Employees are required to have all immunizations (including Hep A & B) current as well as current tetanus shot.
- Must be able to walk up and down hills multiple times daily at elevation.
- Available on-site when needed, which may include nights and weekends
