Why choose Academia Uruguay?

Located in the capital of Uruguay, we are dedicated to teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Our school offers individual and group lessons for all levels of Spanish (beginner to advanced). We also organize extra-curricular classes such as Tango, volunteering, and more. Our school is in a colonial building in Plaza Matriz in Montevideo, with bright, modern amenities and a professional yet easygoing atmosphere. I fell in love with the entire staff

I was a student at Academia Uruguay for several months, taking both group classes and private lessons. It was a good mix. The group classes provided a solid basis in all aspects of the language. In the private lessons I really learned how to talk. The program is not leisurely. It rewards commitment. The flip side of that is a very high teaching standard. I had classes or lessons with most of the teachers, and never a bad one. But I fell in love with the entire staff: teachers, administrators, support, all of them.

What was your funniest moment?
On a group visit to the Museo Blanes, I pointed out the portrait of the woman whose ghost (as we learned in class) purportedly haunts the building. Our guide told the story to the group, which included two women from Brazil. One of them charged over to take a photo of the painting while the other followed demanding almost hysterically that her friend not take a picture of a ghost.
