Alianza de Ministerios de Misericordia, A.C.

Why choose Alianza de Ministerios de Misericordia, A.C. ?

AMMAC is a NGO created to address some of the problems seen on underprivileged families in the city of Monterrey, México. We focus our energy in four main lines of intervention: Nutrition, Health, Education and Housing. Most of our projects are accomplished in Monterrey, but from time to time we also have housing projects in rural areas all over México.

Over the past 17 years, we've had an amazing response form the communities and families we've had the privilege to help, whether by distributing food donations or helping build houses. We are very passionate in helping the highest number of people we can, and we are always striving to have a bigger outreach than the year before.

Since we started having international volunteers, we have seen a wonderful impact in both the community and the volunteer. In the projects involving children, they get to have an international experience that they would not get otherwise. And volunteers get to see that they can make a real difference.

My Experience in Misericordia Para Todos of AMMAC

Hi, my name is Jason, and I volunteered with AMMAC for nine days during the summer of 2015. This experience is my first time in Mexico, and I was alone and knew no one. I was twenty years old, studied Spanish for two years in high (secondary) school, and was eager to visit Mexico. I had only two hundred USD, but AMMAC's team assured my needs, safety, and interests. Misericordia Para Todos is the program through which I delivered food to underdeveloped communities. The majority of this food was donated to AMMAC and its purpose from mega-stores like Wal-Mart and other private entities. And it was always a pleasure and a chore to remove these donations from AMMAC's bodega in Guadalupe to neighboring communities, because I met people from the region with whom I shared a similar upbringing, coming from an impoverished background myself. I learned about AMMAC through Google and Facebook. After connecting with a volunteer through Facebook, and learning that AMMAC was willing to accommodate me food and shelter in its office in Guadalupe, I decided to participate. I told the volunteer that I'd come to the address, and after my flight, I arrived. Shortly after settling, I explored the region and enjoyed myself. Then, I met more members of AMMAC and began to volunteer. During my experience, I felt free and safe. The team respected my interests and I respected theirs. I recommend this program to others.

What would you improve about this program?
There is little room for improvement in the program, because the AMMAC team facilitates Misericordia Para Todos with value and professionalism.
