Alnitak

Alnitak is a scientific organisation focused on Marine Protected Areas in the Mediterranean Sea. Sailing on board the historic Norwegian ship Toftevaag, the non-profit invites volunteers on board to be trained and become part of the crew. Volunteers help with everything from collecting data on whales, dolphins and sea turtles, to collecting samples of microplastics, and cooking and cleaning duties on board.

There is also a filmmaking and technology aspect to our work. Days are long, the work is rigorous, but the Balearic Islands and Cabrera Archipelago are a magical place to be, and teams always leave with new friendships, and having had amazing experiences with wildlife as well as the satisfaction of their direct contribution to the conservation of marine ecosystems.
