Animal Place

Founded in 1989, Animal Place is one of the oldest and largest sanctuaries for farmed animals in the United States, located in Grass Valley, California. Our mission is "compassion for all life," which we honor by rescuing the most used and abused animals on the planet, those raised for food. Animals arrive from small and large farms, slaughterhouses, research facilities, and neglect or cruelty cases. Our main sanctuary in Grass Valley, which is home to nearly 500 rescued residents, also hosts a residential internship program, a bed and breakfast guest house, and an education center that runs our outreach and campaigns.
