Saddle up for Conservation

BRAMORA

Why choose BRAMORA ?

Saddle Up for Conservation offers a small-scale, hands-on conservation and horseback experience on a private wildlife reserve next to Kruger National Park, South Africa. Unlike traditional volunteer programs, we focus on real daily involvement in bush operations — from anti-poaching presence rides and snare patrols to wildlife monitoring and horse work. Our volunteers become part of a small team living and working closely with the horses, the land, and the wildlife. With only a few participants at a time, the experience remains personal, authentic, and deeply connected to conservation on the ground.

I was one of the first volunteers there and had an incredible time there! The atmosphere, the African bush and riding everyday was a dream. I fell in love with the horses and the nature. I already miss my favorite horse Bean und the mule Julio a lot! I also really liked the western style in the stables with the big western saddle’s and cool helmets. One of the highlights was riding by the tame hippos Bruno an Bella, which we could see really close up. Thankful for the time I got to spend there!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
When we were standing by the water with the horses and the two hippos Bella and Bruno came out and were like 10m away from us.
Pros
  • riding every day
  • experiencing wildlife
  • in nature all day long
Cons
  • having to leave again
  • missing it when you’re back home
  • getting kicked by a mule

my volunteer experience

I was one of the first volunteers when the project had just started, and I’m super happy I joined. Everything was well organized, the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, and I had such a great time. Horse riding was so much fun! I also experienced many adventures and made unforgettable memories. It was also an amazing way to experience South Africa in a unique and authentic way, and one of my biggest highlights was seeing all the wildlife and nature. I would definitely recommend this program.
