Campanario Biological Station

Why choose Campanario Biological Station?

The Osa Peninsula sits on the Southern end of Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast. It is home to Corcovado National Park, the largest national park in the country. Its land consists of mostly Lowland or Coastal Tropical Rainforest, including some Primary Forest and is known as one of the most biodiverse tropical areas on Earth.

On our property alone, we have recorded the following:
120 species of tree
71 species of reptiles
46 species of amphibians
375 species of birds
8,000 species of insects
61 species of fresh fish
124 mammals

Campanario Biological Station is a privately-owned reserve near the town of Los Planes and Drake Bay. It is a short hike from the San Pedrillo ranger station in Corcovado National Park, and includes about 170 acres (69 hectares) of forest, along with a sheltered cove and beach. The property and facility functions as a destination for ecotours, a field station for researchers, an educational center for school groups, and a home for the staff.
