Yes, I recommend this program

Excellent learning experience

I wanted to learn russian and the best way to do it was to go there directly. But going alone can be too tough. I chose the CREF after having checked many different options. They took care of everything : courses, accommodation...and it was definitely worth it. It was a bespoke language learning week for me. Now i am not afraid to speak russian and this experience at CREF clearly kickstarted thaht.

What would you improve about this program?
If I could improve something. It woud be the price maybe...but it was worth it.

Why did you decide to study abroad with CREF?

I really wanted to learn Russian. I had courses in France but felt I was not making enough progress. I decided to go in Russia for a total immersion during 10 days. I have looked on the web and took some advice. I wanted a complete package (intensive courses, accommodation). I chose CREF as they answered my needs. After intensive courses each day until 4 PM, I went around the city in the afternoons/evenings and could not be happier!

How has this experience impacted your future?

Academically I managed to surpass the fear of speaking Russian. I could speak but was uncomfortable and did not feel confident about it. The intensive courses of CREF, the patience of the teachers really helped me for that.

Personally, I just realized how important to “live the experience” abroad. That learning a language is not just about books and list of words to learn. By living the experience it is a whole cultural package that you assimilate.

Professionally it brought me a lot of interests from my Russian customers who clearly noticed that I was “speaking well” after my journey there.

What did CREF do for you and what did you need to do on your own?

CREF gave me the accommodation and an intensive courses shedule. It was one to one courses as I requested (group courses are also available). We were working on a specific CREF book adapted to my level. I had also homework to do. The journey was very studious per my request. The teachers were nice and available. An important thing for me too was that I could ask any cultural question to the teachers (the way they live in Moscow, the difference between the neighborhoods…).

Describe your favorite must-have food that you tried abroad.

I was there just before the lent. One week before Lent, there is the tradition of the “pancake week” (blinis). Pancake with jam, pancake with caviar…there was some concert on the streets. It lasted the whole week so I was nearly eating blinis at every meal (I just loved it). Otherwise there are the classic pirochkis (kind of meat donuts) that I always ate after my courses.

What position do you hold at CREF? What has been your career path so far?

Within CREF I am responsible for product promotion. I have just graduated from SciencePo Bordeaux (France) and Ruden University (Russia). I double majored in business/economics and political science.

Did YOU study abroad? If so, where did you go and what inspired you to go?!

Yes, I’ve already studied aboard, in Russia, Moscow in 2010. I really wanted to travel, to discover a new language and an interesting culture, so I chose Moscow! And it has been amazing. That's why I am still here.

What does the future hold for CREF - any new programs to share?

In fact, we are always able to propose something new. Recently, thanks to our partnership with a travel agency, we are proposing new package programs combining language study with vacationing. But we always work to keep meeting the same objective: the customer's satisfaction.

What about the future of the industry? How do you think study abroad and international education will change over the next 10 years?

I think more and more students will want to study aboard, for four reasons:

- To learn a new language, in the country, since the best way to learn and retain a language is through immersion.
- To discover a new culture first-hand.
- To improve the curriculum.
- The ever-decreasing price of international air travel.

Russia is one of the largest and most intriguing countries in the world, and a major actor in world business and international relations. The country continues to develop, and in 10 years, speaking Russian will be a excellent qualification.
