DolphinCare-Africa
Why choose DolphinCare-Africa?
DolphinCareAfrica is the research and conservation arm of Dolphin Encountours Research Center that was born in 1994 after life changing experiences were had when coming face to face with wild dolphins whilst scuba diving in a very quite and remote Ponta do Ouro, Mozambique.
Permanent facilities were set up in 1997 and so saw the birth of Africa's first structured wild dolphin swim program who built its foundation on educational and ethical marine mammal tourism that would fund the longterm monitoring of marine mammals in the NOW reserve; a vision that was cast in 1996 finally manifested in 2009!
Some 6000 records of marine mammals now exist in DolphinCare's database as do thousands of images & hours of in-water recordings of our local Dolphins of Ponta. Our works indicates that there is a population of some 250 bottlenose dolphins that are both resident & transient. Marine mammals need our protection & we do this through conservation, action, research & education.
