This proved to be a great opportunity to see Hong Kong, a fast & exciting city in South East Asia. I tried great food, met new people & explored both the urban & more natural sides of Hong Kong (surprisingly HK has a mix of both city & nature!). On weekends I was able to travel to Macau & mainland China (Shenzhen). In addition I learned a lot from teaching & the training provided by Experior (no prior teaching experience was required).
The company provided my visa, accommodation, airport pickup & more. Also, I always felt supported as Ian was available to answer any queries I might've had. Moreover, Experior organised events such as the boat party, welcome meal & hike
In terms of finances the accommodation provided is in an excellent central location. However, the salary isn't enough to cover the programme fee, flights & living expenses. One way around this is to apply for funding from your university, such as the Turing Scheme.
What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
A meal that I had in Shenzhen, China. I'm still not sure what it was. It was very different to anything I've eaten before.
