Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco

Why choose Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco?

The "Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco" is a ecuadorian non-govermental organization (NGO), it was created in 1998 with the aim to protect areas of critical importance for the conservation of endemic and threatened bird species of Ecuador, which are not under protection of SNAP ("Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas). Our Foundation reach this goal with the purchase of lands and manage them like biological reserves.

We own a network of 12 biological reserves, with a global area of about 17.500 hectares protecting not only threatened birds, flora and fauna.

Jocotoco Reserves are the home of more than 800 species of birds, of which more than 50 are endangered or critically endangered in a global scale and more than 100 species are regional endemics.

All the reserves had been recognized like Important Areas for the Birds Conservation and are inside of "Hot Spots" of Biodiversity and two of them are recognized like places of the Alliance for Zero Extincion (AZE).
