Green Zanzibar/ Tufahamiane

Tufahamiane is a local, registered NGO in southern Zanzibar representing a group of local women fighting climate change, plastic pollution and the deforestation in Zanzibar.
This is done in a sustainable way such that projects can be started with donations but do not rely on them long-term. One example of such a project is a water filter that was installed through donations and can now be used by the women to filter and sell water with a bottle-refill system to avoid plastic waste. The resulting income is then used to employ workers and fund repairs or replacements of the filter.
