All you need for a review

I joined KU before extracurricular activities were known to the campus. The management supported us to the point we went from one small club to more than 15 clubs within one year, they guided us, encouraged us, and provided us with all we needed and more to have an exceptional university experience.
The instructors are excellent, they have the knowledge and they know how to deliver it to the students. Classes & labs are equipped with the latest technologies and are used efficiently.
The KU staff takes your interest, talents & hobbies into consideration & do all they can for you to grow & succeed doing the things you love.
Activities and events take place long the year, competitions are held for all sort of interests including photography, art, scientific topics, video games and more. You will have just the right balance between fun & studying, it'll keep your life busy & filled with joy.
To me personally I had the most fun of my life being a student there, I graduated with a bachelor's degree back in 2014 and then re-joined the uni as a master's student and graduated in 2016. If I'm given the option to do it all-over again I would go for it, no regrets!
KU is located in the United Arab Emirates, I'm not Emirati, and you may think this can be a problem but it's not. Everyone is so friendly (including students and the staff), they treat you like one of them regardless of your color, religion or nationality. The competition between students is high but healthy, they support each other while competing. Study-groups are very popular where the best students in the course hold sessions for anyone who's interested to join to review the course material and get ready for exams. Most submissions are team-work based, but here's the thing, even if you don't like working with teams, you'll be impressed by how good teamwork is in KU. For someone who enjoys working alone, I had the most fun being a part of a team throughout my academic years.
If you're looking for a university where you feel you belong, where your voice is heard, where your talents are considered a BIG thing, where you can have the fun of your life while pursuing a great degree, KU is the right choice for you.

Academics

The pros: I think my time at the MI campus was very unique. The student body was very diverse back in 2016, and the institute was indeed cutting edge. My experience with MI enabled me to reach a better potential and the places I am at today. Funding my MS degree was of course one major advantage.

The cons:
- Most courses were not graduate level although the intent of the courses was supposed to be.
- I have taken courses where I had no proper assignments, thus passed without gaining sufficient insight on many topics.
- My field of study was in IC design. This institute is not the place for such a field.
- The institute suffers from lack of response to emails, especially to us Alumnus.
- Attestation is a mission impossible being a legacy student of MI, and no one knows the exact procedures which were supposed to be taken care of before the merger.

What would you improve about this program?
- Re-evaluation of graduate level courses.
- Hire more faculty in IC design?
- Stricter policy on email response time.
- support legacy students attest their degrees

What is your favorite travel memory?

Witnessing the great Wildebeest Migration in Masai Mara, Kenya. It is quite a spectacle and an experience which I will never forget. There is so much we can learn from nature. The sun sets were absolutely breathtaking. I met amazing people from different cultures and that made the trip all the more fun and interesting.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I have grown a lot during my work with Khalifa University. The UAE is a rapidly evolving country with many ambitious goals. I learned to adapt successfully to change and to keep my learning skills fresh. One of the essential learning skills is to learn how to learn. I will always be a student at heart. I enjoy working on new initiatives and knowing that I am part of a bigger transformative plan which will cement our organization as a leader regionally and internationally.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

We have had many success stories. The common thread in all these stories is the confidence which a return student discovers in themselves through the experience. There is nothing as rewarding as seeing your students grow into young leaders while you are there to cheer them on. One of our students who took part in this program returned with renewed motivation and passion. He found his purpose and pursued it. I am proud to say that he is a leader in his organization today.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Khalifa University offers academically rigorous programs with very attractive scholarships. I am specially proud of our interdisciplinary PhD program. The current trend in the industry is to integrate specialized fields and our programs prepare students to think beyond boundaries. Furthermore, they will be ready for future jobs as new needs and professions emerge.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

We are very proud that Khalifa University is the top-rated institution in the UAE by Times Higher Education and QS. The 2019 QS World University Rankings has placed Khalifa University of Science and Technology 315th overall globally, among the top 31% of the 1,011 institutions assessed across the world.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Khalifa University is actively involved in establishing long term strategic partnerships with a variety of organizations. The University currently enjoys strong relationships with many national and international partners including industry leaders, multinational entities, government agencies, universities and other institutions. By partnering with these entities, the University seeks to emphasize its commitment to research and development, as well as providing its students and faculty the opportunity to solve applied problems and gain real world experience.
