Orangutan Foundation International Canada

Why choose Orangutan Foundation International Canada?

We are a non-profit organization committed to the preservation of wild orangutans within their rainforest habitat. This organization was established in 2011 by Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas and associates in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Tax-deductible charity status was granted by the Canadian government in March 2012. With the creation of Orangutan Foundation International Canada, Canadians can directly support the orangutan conservation and forest protection work of Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas and her colleagues in Indonesia.

Current board members consist of Dr. Galdikas’ former students as well as committed Canadian volunteers, donors, and researchers, coming together to establish a sister organization to Orangutan Foundation International. Our goals are to raise awareness concerning the orangutans’ dire situation in the wild and to gather support for orangutan conservation and habitat protection from a broader range of Canadians.
