Why choose Sacha Yacu?

The project is a wild animal rescue Centre based in the rainforest in Ecuador and supported principally by volunteers from all around the world. We work with the Environmental Police (UPMA) and the Ministry of Environment in the fight against wild animal trafficking and abuse
The Centre was established in 2006 on the land of a family from the Amazon. The last years has been spent working hard to develop technical knowledge of animal rescue and rehabilitation.

We are constantly working in unison with the coordinators and volunteers of the Centre to improve the enclosures, the lifestyles of the animals, and to overcome many of the challenges faced in running an animal rescue Centre in the Ecuadorian rainforest. We are based in an area of Ecuador commonly known here as “El Oriente” (in the east of the country). The Centre is located within the indigenous Quechua community near a town called Puyo.
