Saphichay

Saphichay is an Indigenous youth-led grassroots nonprofit organization founded by L. Paloma Abregu, a Peruvian woman of Quechua descent. It was created through sacred indigenous ceremonial prayer as a response to counter against the challenges that indigenous populations face on political, economic, social and personal levels. Saphichay focuses on aspects such as cultural preservation and revitalization, empowerment of indigenous communities, unification, conflict resolution, and simultaneous healing of the land and its people. Most of the current projects focus specifically on youth empowerment and land protection, both through cultural revitalization. Saphichay stays true to its Indigenous roots by providing job and internship opportunities to community members.
