School of Science, The University of Tokyo

The University of Tokyo (UTokyo) is the oldest and the most prestigious university in Japan. As a leading research university, UTokyo offers courses in essentially all academic disciplines at both undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research across the full spectrum of academic activity. The University has five campuses, of which two (Hongo and Komaba campuses) are in the heart of Tokyo. The campus is situated in a sophisticated modern cosmopolitan city environment, but it is still surrounded by lush greenery.

The School of Science, established alongside the University in 1877, aims to nurture global leaders who will lead international research communities and contribute to a global society with their strong scientific knowledge and experience. As represented by our Nobel Prize and Fields Medal recipients, researchers and professors in our School have been continuously exploring new frontiers in natural science and contributing to research with their discoveries.
