Share your skills at Simoonga Thandizani school

My partner and I enjoyed one week of volunteering at Simoonga school.

The staff and kids were friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We were introduced to teachers that we would be helping out, and were able to assist with classes at our own pace. I particularly liked getting to know the kids on a personal level while helping with their English writing. My partner loved playing football with the school team.

There are a variety of ages, so you can choose where you want to lend a hand. If English is your second language, you can socialise and teach through drawing pictures with the little ones. Any interaction and financial assistance is appreciated, and the school is doing a magnificent job of providing for this group of youths the best that they can.

I was happy to share my times with the children at school, helped cooking at school, and played with children together. Excellent

It was one of the most rewarding and eye-opening experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by the students, teachers and all the staff. The energy, kindness and eagerness to learn that children showed every single day were truly inspiring.

Their enthusiasm made every lesson feel rewarding, and their smiles were truly contagious.

The school is doing incredible work with resources available and dedication of staff is inspiring. Despite challenges, kids remain motivated and their resilience is something we can all learn from.

I had so much fun being a part of their learning journey and the entire experience was both humbling and fulfilling.

If you’re considering volunteering at school in Africa, I highly recommend it. It’s an experience that will leave a lasting impact on you, just as much as you hope to make an impact on the children.
