Uganda Lodge Community Projects

Why choose Uganda Lodge Community Projects?

Uganda Lodge is a UK based registered charity working with a community in south-west Uganda to promote better education, health and life outcomes for the children and families who live there in rudimentary accommodation without access to even basic services.

We partner with a local community based organisation to ensure services are created, managed and delivered by local people who can also benefit from those employment opportunities.

Projects to date include the development of a school for over 400 children, a gravity well to supply water to Ruhanga village, workshops and a medical centre.

English speaking volunteers from across the world are welcome to stay with us working at the school or within many other community based initiatives.

Yes, I recommend this program

The most beautiful village in the World!

Uganda Lodge is an amazing place to go, particularly if it's your first time in Africa. There is a program set up for volunteers to get involved in the school and they are always open for volunteer input. There are lots of trips around Uganda and into Rwanda, all of which are incredible and well worth doing, and the village itself is just beautiful. Ugandans are such friendly welcoming people. What I loved most about the 3 months I spent there, was walking around the banana plantations and up waterfalls, visiting all the local families, helping them harvest tomatoes, cook, shell beans or collect water. The children are always up for a game of football or piggy backs and sing and dance all the time. I made some very close friends in the village and I wouldn't swap my time there for anything!

What would you improve about this program?
I, personally, would have enjoyed more community based projects that I could've got involved with, as opposed to being encouraged mainly to teach at the school.
