Umphafa Private Nature Reserve
Why choose Umphafa Private Nature Reserve?
The UmPhafa Private Nature Reserve, situated in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, is a 6,000 hectare reserve managed and supported by Colchester Zoo's Action for the Wild charity. The aim is to rehabilitate UmPhafa as an example of the region’s previous natural condition.
Since 2004 the reserve has been home to many reintroduced and returning species, including white rhino, giraffe, kudu and leopard.
Action for the Wild are now offering voluntary internships and research placements on the reserve for a minimum of one month. This is a fantastic opportunity for those seeking to improve their knowledge and understanding of conservation, and gain practical skills in the field.
